Gobar sar" or Cow Dung manure application is not a fixed quantity but depends on the specific crop, soil type, and nutrient requirements.
For general use as a fertilizer, it is best to compost the cow dung and apply it based on the plant's needs, with more compost for crops that require more nutrients.
A common approach is to mix it with the soil before planting to improve soil structure and add nutrients.

Factors influencing the amount of Gobar Sar to use:

A) Crop type: Different crops have different nutrient requirements. For example, vegetables often need more manure than grains.

B) Soil type: Sandy soils benefit from organic matter like cow dung more than clay soils.

C) Composting: Raw cow dung can be too strong. It's best to compost it first, which makes the nutrients more available and reduces the risk of burning plants.

D) Plant growth stage: Younger plants and fruiting plants may require more nutrients than established plants.

How to apply gobar sar:
1. Composting: Mix fresh cow dung with other organic materials like plant waste and allow it to decompose for several weeks or months.
2. Application: Spread the composted manure over the soil or mix it in before planting.
3. Quantity: For general use, a common practice is to apply it at a rate of 20-30% of the soil volume, or enough to improve the soil's texture.
4. Soil Testing: For best results, conduct a soil test to understand the soil's nutrient levels and then apply the appropriate amount of gobar sar.

Commercial tree plantation through BASSU PLANTATION SERVICES, involves the large-scale cultivation of trees for profit, providing TIMBER FOR FURNITURE & INTERIOR DECORATION, industrial timber, fuelwood, and other forest products to meet increasing global demand.
These plantations are actively managed, often feature genetically modified, single species, and can use indigenous or exotic trees, with their profitability determined by considering the entire lifecycle and potential returns from timber, fruits, or other products like rubber.
While focused on financial gains, commercial plantations also contribute to restoring degraded lands and mitigating deforestation, though this depends on the use of degraded lands and native species for greater environmental benefits.

Key Aspects of Commercial Tree Plantation :
A) Purpose: The primary goal is to generate income by producing forest products such as timber, wood fibers, rubber, and fruit.
B) Scale: These are typically large-scale operations designed to meet modern societal demands for high-quality forest products.
C) Management: Plantations are actively managed, often with even-aged blocks and the use of genetically altered trees to enhance desired traits like faster growth or disease resistance.
D) Species Selection: Both indigenous and exotic tree species can be used, with the choice influenced by the target product and site conditions.
E) Financials: Profitability depends on factors like the tree species, product type (e.g., timber versus fruit), and managing the entire lifecycle for long-term returns.

Products and Markets
1. Timber Application & Products: involves the large-scale cultivation of trees for profit, providing TIMBER FOR FURNITURE & INTERIOR DECORATION,
2. Timber & Wood Products: A major focus is on producing wood for construction, furniture, and industrial raw materials.
3. Rubber: The rising global demand for natural rubber has led to a significant expansion in planted rubber areas.
4. Fruit: Fruit tree plantations, or orchards, can be a highly profitable venture, especially for smallholder farmers.
5. Fuelwood: Plantations for fuelwood are essential, particularly in rural areas where it's a primary energy source.
6. Other Products: Bamboo, a highly productive non-timber product, is also grown in plantations.

Environmental Considerations
1. Restoration: Planting trees on degraded or deforested land can help restore ecosystems and contribute to environmental conservation.
2. Biodiversity: Mixed-species plantations can improve biodiversity compared to monocultures and are often considered more sustainable.
3. Carbon Sequestration: Tree planting, especially by the private sector, is increasingly seen as a mechanism to offset carbon emissions and improve climate stability.

How It Works
1. Planning: Develop a land-use plan based on soil suitability and the desired tree species.
2. Propagating Trees: Often involves using vegetative propagation methods like cuttings, grafting, or tissue culture to ensure genetic quality and maintain desired traits.
3. Planting: Trees are planted, ensuring roots are properly covered and the soil is secured around them.
4. Management & Harvesting: Trees are managed over their lifecycle to maximize yield and quality before being harvested for their products.

RED SANDALWOOD PLANTATION
--------------------------------------------------------

Red sandalwood grows naturally in the dry, rocky areas of the Eastern Ghats in the Indian states of Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka, with Andhra Pradesh being the historical heartland.
But it can be planted for commercial purpose. Ideal planting sites have well-draining soil that is a mix of loam and sand, with a rocky or gravelly texture. The beginning of the rainy season, around late May or early June, is the best time to plant nursery seedlings or stump-raised plants.

A) Ideal Growing Conditions -
• Climate: Red sandalwood thrives in dry, semi-arid climates and is not frost tolerant.
• Soil: The best soil is a mix of loam and sand that drains well. Rocky or gravelly soil on high altitudes, often found in the Eastern Ghats, is also suitable.
• Location: It is native to the Eastern Ghats mountain range of South India, particularly the Seshachalam Hills.

B) Planting a Site
• Site Selection: Choose a site with well-draining soil, testing drainage by digging a foot-deep hole and adding water. If the water drains away within 24 hours, the site has sufficient drainage.
• Soil Preparation: The land should be plowed and harrowed to a fine tilth, creating a weed-free environment for the first two years of growth.
• Planting: Dig pits of 45 cm × 45 cm × 45 cm at a spacing of 4 m × 4 m. Fill the pits with topsoil mixed with manure and a small amount of fertilizer.
• Timing: The ideal time to plant is at the beginning of the rainy season, typically in late May or early June.

A suitable teak plantation site has well-drained, deep, and moist alluvial soil with a pH of 6.5 to 7.5, a warm tropical climate, and annual rainfall between 800-3500 mm. The site should be plain or gently sloping with excellent drainage, receiving high sunlight intensity and not waterlogged or extremely dry.

A) Soil Conditions
• Texture & Drainage: The best sites have well-drained, deep alluvial soils. Soils derived from gneiss, schist, trap, and sandstone are also good, provided they are well-drained.
• Unsuitable Soils: Avoid waterlogged, shallow, or hard pan soils, as well as laterite and black cotton soils.
• pH: Teak prefers soils with a pH ranging from 6.5 to 7.5.
• Organic Matter: Base-rich soils with high organic carbon and calcium are ideal for teak growth.

B) Climate & Rainfall
• Temperature: Teak thrives in a warm tropical climate, with ideal conditions experiencing maximum temperatures between 39°C and 48°C.
• Rainfall: An annual rainfall of 800-2500 mm is ideal, though teak can also grow in very moist areas receiving over 3500 mm annually.

C) Light Requirements
• Sunlight: Teak is a light-demanding species and requires high light intensity for proper development, needing 75-100% sunlight once established.
• Shade Tolerance: Seedlings should be protected from low light intensity during their early growth stages (up to 8-10 months).
Topography
• Slope: The plantation site can be on plain or gently sloping land, but it must have excellent drainage.
• Altitude: Teak can be grown from sea level up to about 1200 meters.

D) Preparation
• Pit Digging: Dig pits of about 45x45x45 cm.
• Soil Amendment: On poor sites, mix the pit soil with good soil, organic matter, and insecticides.
• Fertilization: Apply fertilizer in the pit at the time of planting and then in split doses as the soil fertility requires.
• Weeding: Conduct thorough weeding, especially in the initial years, to ensure adequate light for the light-demanding species.
