The Autonomous Ground Vehicle Research Group (AGV), IIT Kharagpur, is a group of highly motivated students of diverse academic backgrounds motivated by a common spirit to develop India’s first Self-Driving Vehicle. Students from various disciplines of Engineering including Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical Engineering and Computer Science with a common interest in the Research Field of Robotics

have collaborated to develop a marvel in the realm of Artificial Intelligence Research in India. We are a group of about 30 undergraduate students working towards the development of an Autonomous Car under the mentorship of our Faculty Advisor - Professor Debashish Chakraborty and his Phd Student - Mr. The team is virtually divided in 5 groups focusing on the following specialized areas.
1. Environnment Sensing and Mapping
3. Navigation
5. Administrative and Management. website : http://agv-iit-kgp.github.io

Dear Freshers,

We are excited to announce the introductory seminar of the Autonomous Ground Vehicles (AGV) research group. We are a group of highly motivated undergraduate researchers working on autonomous vehicular planning, artificial intelligence in vision and path prediction, localization, mapping, and motion control. Sounds interesting? Through the introductory seminar, we hope to provide a deeper insight into all the awesome things we do, the papers we publish, the models we build, and so on!

We encourage all interested students to fill out the given form and attend the introductory seminar to learn more about our research and how they can join AGV. We look forward to meeting you and sharing our passion for research.

Eligibility: All UG 1st year students

We are proud to share that 4 members of the Autonomous Ground Vehicle Research Group - Shivam Sood, Jaskaran Singh Sodhi, Parv Maheshwari, and Karan Uppal, under the guidance of Professor Debashish Chakravarty, have been invited to present their work on the winning solution for the IROS Navigation and Manipulation Challenge at the 4th International Conference on Control and Robotics at Guangzhou, China.

Their work, titled "Multiple Waypoint Navigation for Unknown Indoor Environments" will be published to the IEEE Proceedings of ICCR 2022.

We congratulate the team and wish them the best for their future endeavors.

05/05/2022

We are glad to announce that a team from our research group was among the three winning teams in the qualifying rounds at this year’s F1TENTH Virtual Grand Prix at the IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation 2022, the premier conference for robotics. Out of 43 teams that signed up, 17 teams successfully submitted code that needed to drive as fast as possible on both a map with and without an obstacle. Team AGV completed 2 laps in 51.98s only a small way behind the winning time of 51.77s.

The teams participating in 10th F1TENTH Grand Prix have to build a 1:10 scaled autonomous race car according to a given specification and write software for it to fulfill the objectives for the competition: Don’t crash and minimize laptime.

Our team consists of Saumyadip Nandy, Himadri Bhakta, Vibhanshu Vaibhav, Shreya Bhatt, Roopsa Sen, Pranav Kulkarni, Mohhit Kumar Jha, Aditya Jha, and Raunak Rajpal.

We would like to thank Prof DrDebashish Chakravarty for his constant support and guidance, and would like to wish the team good luck for the big finals!

We are glad to announce our low-cost AI-based cyber-physical system for monitoring social distance in public places.

Considering the need of the hour, we temporarily shifted all our research focus on this project.

We hope that the device finds utility in maintaining the social distancing norms in locations attracting crowds and queues such as markets, malls etc. We have already conducted thorough and intensive testing with installations of three prototypes at the marketplace of the IIT Kharagpur campus.

We would like to thank Indu Kant Deo, Yash Khandelwal , Apoorve Singhal, Harimohan Jha, Abhra Majumder, Rishabh Singh and the rest of the team for online support and guidance.
