Now, human p*e to charge cellphones:

P*e power! In a world first, UK scientists claim to have developed a novel method to charge mobile phones - using human urine.

Scientists working at the Bristol Robotics Laboratory have described the "breakthrough" finding of charging cell phones using urine as the power source to generate electricity.

"We are very excited as this is a world first, no-one has harnessed power from urine to do this so it's an exciting discovery. Using the ultimate waste product as a source of power to produce electricity is about as eco as it gets," Dr Ioannis Ieropoulos from University of the West of England (UWE), Bristol, an expert at harnessing power from unusual sources using microbial fuel cells, said.

Dams full; Kerala out of power crisis

The state had managed to come out of the power crisis thanks to the copious rain. After a gap of seven long years, KSEB began to sell power. The dams are full now which also helped to supply power to grids. This year Kearla had 49 % more rain than the previous year.

The dams have 60 % water capacity. Kuttiyadi, Kakkayam, Peringalkuthu and lower Periyar are almost full now. During summer, production was 9 million units where as at present it is 21.41 million units. KSEB is also benefited with less consumption due to rainy season and cold. This helped KSEB to go forward without buying solar power. If Kerala receives more rain during Karkadakam, all dams might be filled. KSEB expects to make profit of up to Rs 1000 crore.

SUPER CAPACITOR :
Just to give you a sense of scale between normal and super capacitor, most capacitors are measured in microfarads, millionths of a farad, 3000 Farads is pretty darned big. Maxwell Boostcaps run at 2.7V which really doesn’t sound like a lot, but the massive capacitance means that they can store and deliver very large amounts of current. And as we all know it’s the current that’ll get you, not the volts. Large currents can melt steel (Mig/Tig welding) and generate large magnetic fields when passed through a suitable conductor.
3000F is equivalent to 100AH.

The Idukki Dam, located in Kerala, India, is a 168.91 m (554 ft) tall arch dam. The dam stands between the two mountains - Kuravanmala (839)m and Kurathimala (925)m. It was constructed and is owned by the Kerala State Electricity Board. It supports a 780 MW hydroelectric power station.
It is built on the Periyar River, in the ravine between the Kuravan and Kurathi Hills in Kerala, India. At 167.68 metres, it is one of the highest arch dams in Asia and third tallest arch dam.
It started generating power on 4 October 1975. Technically, the dam type is a concrete double, curvature parabolic, thin arc dam.
This dam was constructed along with two other dams at Cheruthoni and Kulamavu. Together, the three dams have created an artificial lake that is 60 km² in area. The stored water is used to produce electricity at the Moolamattom Power house, which is located inside nearby rocky caves. The Government of Canada aided in the building of the dam with long term loans and grants.

In sea there are many winds. And Mankind has always used this fact to its own advantage. And if the sea before the winds were necessary for the movement of sailboats on the water, now they become the basis for wind energy. To build several wind turbines offshore is going in Scotland. Moreover, they will be located in an offshore zone and for communication with the ground they provide helipads.

Students at Stanford University unveiled their latest solar-powered car Tuesday, two weeks before it will be shipped to Australia to take part in the world’s premier solar vehicle race.

The car, called Luminos, sits low to the ground and has a long, curved body that’s covered with solar panels. The curved body is key to its aerodynamics and allows it to generate less than half the drag of a cyclist while cruising. The driver sits in the middle of the vehicle, mostly within its shell, but can see the road through a small canopy that sticks up from the center of the car.

Luminos cruises almost silently at 45 miles per hour when its solar panels are in full sunlight, and will keep going throughout the daytime, said Max Praglin, an electronics engineer with Stanford’s Solar Car Project. The car’s batteries have enough charge to take the car 150 to 200 miles when sunlight doesn’t provide enough power, he said.
