Wrapped in warm terracotta walls and grounded by a honey travertine floor, AL FANN is a 42 sqm sweet shop tucked into Al Seef, Dubai. The space treats traditional Emirati confectionery. Dates, chocolates, baklava, as objects worth pausing for, arranging each piece behind brass-framed vitrines with the quiet care of a jewelry boutique rather than the abundance of a traditional souk.
A central cream marble counter divides the room, flanked on either side by illuminated display cases and softened by warm oak mashrabiya screens that filter light from the working kitchen beyond. Overhead, a slatted oak ceiling carries a single brass pendant, casting the whole interior in a low amber glow.
"AL FANN is less about selling sweets and more about the ritual around them. In Emirati homes, offering dates and coffee is how welcome is expressed β and that gesture deserves a room designed with the same attention. Everything here, from the marble counter to the gift box, is shaped by that idea."
Scope: interior design + packaging system.
