Courts

Primary and secondary axes structure movement across the site, linked by pathways and punctuated by courts that anchor activity.
These courts act as hubs of interaction, shaping a hierarchy of spaces that engage the senses while retaining a strong connection to landscape.
The site’s axial order is softened through these pause points and a minimised built presence at the ground level, allowing the landscape to remain dominant.

The Kund

The main stream emanating from near the entrance and flowing towards the North East corner of the site (resulting in the main axis culminates in a large pond. Given the need for water storage, this has been enhanced into a large tank, the first part of which is essentially a traditional kund or tank. Generating from this kund is a stepped well that leads down into a meditation space.

Library

The library serves as a fulcrum for the entire academic zone and is also conceptualised as a visual beacon from both the academic well as from the leisure/wellness zones. The structure is expressed as being generated from a steep berm on the south and west and cascading as a series of steps toward the Kund in the North and East.

The academic block is conceived as a continuum of learning, from instinct and intellect to intuition. Nature becomes the primary catalyst, shaping an environment where learning extends beyond the classroom.
Organised along a linear spine from administration to the library, the blocks culminate at the kund, symbolising the transition to intuitive thought. This edge is imagined as a ‘ghat’, fostering exchange and collective experience.
Spaces are fluid and non-confining, with studios opening to the outdoors, ensuring constant engagement with the landscape. Support functions are embedded as nodes within a network of courts, reinforcing a porous and interconnected learning environment.

This proposal for Maharashtra National Law University begins instead with a question—what if design returns to the memory of the land?

Rooted in the traces of an ancient forest, the masterplan emerges like a living organism—growing from a seed, branching through networks of movement, and evolving with purpose.

A campus imagined as a quiet quest—for truth, for justice, and for a deeper connection between people, place, and learning.

IF.BE (Ice Factory Ballard Estate) receives an Honourable Mention at the 10th edition of the International Award DOMUS for Restoration and Conservation Fassa Bortolo — Historical pre-existences and architecture.

A 140-year-old ice factory, carefully “unmade” and “remade” - revealing its anatomy, recovering its courtyard, and allowing a Banyan tree to breathe again.

“The Pavilion And The Cave”

A ‘multigenerational’ weekend home, makes manifest a simple idea, a retreat from urbanity into nature. This primordial need, simple at the surface, is contested by urban conditioning.

The shift of scales, at adjacencies and conveniences of the ‘Apartment’ can create a trepidation, resistance even to the agrarian archetypes that bring you close to nature, and to the elements.

Learning begins with curiosity and unfolds through discovery.

For this International school in Ahmedabad, the campus is woven through an existing grove of mango trees, forming a shaded matrix of courtyards, terraces, and learning clusters.

Architecture recedes as nature takes precedence, creating self-learning communities where exploration, play, and reflection coexist.
