The Living Room - Sa’ada

Abstract. Raw. Expressive.

Sculpted in white brick and concrete, punctuated with black and bold strokes of colour, this living room was designed around Zaheer’s rhythm.

Strong lines, structured forms and unexpected details give the space its confidence, while deep blue anchors the room with warmth and character.

A space that doesn’t try to be quiet. It knows exactly who it belongs to.

The Beach House Deck - Sa’ada

The brief was to create an outdoor retreat that felt calm, immersive, and deeply connected to the sea. More than a deck, it was envisioned as a place where everyday moments could unfold at a slower pace.

The design centres around a custom sunken lounge, thoughtfully reimagined from what was originally planned as a paddle pool. Lowering the seating creates uninterrupted sightlines towards the Arabian Sea, allowing every conversation, morning tea, or quiet pause to be experienced with the horizon as its backdrop.

Functionality remains quietly integrated. An inbuilt bar is concealed within the stone-clad cabinetry, revealing itself only when entertaining, while open timber shelves provide a restrained display for objects that personalise the space without overwhelming it.

Material continuity defines the space. Natural split stone wraps the walls and flooring, carrying the home’s architectural language seamlessly from the exterior into the interiors. Above, a warm timber ceiling introduces intimacy, while layered planting softens the stone, creating a landscape that feels organic rather than constructed.

The furniture follows the same philosophy. The sculpted sunken seating embraces the space, while the warm terracotta upholstery introduces softness against the textured stone. Small timber tables, tropical planting, and subtle lighting complete an environment that feels both relaxed and refined.

The result is a deck that celebrates the luxury of slowing down. A space where architecture frames the sea, materials blend effortlessly with nature, and every gathering, whether shared or solitary, feels connected to the landscape beyond.

The Beach House Deck - Sa’ada

Designed as a private retreat overlooking the Arabian Sea, this deck offers a completely different rhythm from the rest of the home.

At its heart is a custom sunken lounge, reimagined from the original paddle pool to create a space where conversations naturally unfold against uninterrupted sea views. An integrated bar disappears seamlessly into the stone-clad wall, remaining concealed until entertaining begins, while open shelves become a subtle backdrop for objects collected over time.

Natural split stone wraps the walls and flooring, continuing the home’s architectural language from outside to inside. Warm timber overhead, lush tropical planting, and layered lighting soften the material palette, creating a setting that feels relaxed yet refined.

A place for sunrise tea, sunset conversations, and evenings that effortlessly stretch into the night.

The Deck - Sa’ada

The brief was to create an outdoor space that felt like a true extension of the home rather than a separate balcony. A place where everyday living could continue uninterrupted against the backdrop of the Arabian Sea.

Planning became the foundation of the design. The seating layout mirrors the living room inside, creating a natural dialogue between the two spaces and allowing the home to comfortably accommodate larger gatherings without feeling divided. Whether the sliding doors remain open or closed, the transition feels effortless.

Functionality is integrated with equal care. An automated pop-up bar remains concealed until required, transforming the deck from a relaxed lounge into an entertaining space within moments. Clad in black metal and timber, it quietly complements the surrounding material palette while becoming the centrepiece during gatherings.

The furniture introduces warmth and personality. The vibrant yellow sectional, a colour chosen by Zaheer, brings freshness and energy against the restrained architectural backdrop. Above it, a custom artwork created by a close friend adds a deeply personal layer, making the space feel lived in rather than simply styled.

Towards the edge of the deck, a pair of woven outdoor chairs creates a more intimate setting overlooking the sea. It has become a favourite corner for quiet morning coffee, informal meetings and moments of pause above the city.

Material continuity reinforces this connection. The exposed concrete flooring from the living room flows into an outdoor tile of the same tone and texture, preserving the visual language while introducing the durability required for exterior living. White brick walls continue the architectural palette, complemented by floating black granite shelves and warm timber elements that add depth and balance.

The result is a space where architecture dissolves the boundary between indoors and outdoors. A deck that isn’t designed as an addition to the home, but as another living room, shaped by light, material, memories and the rhythm of everyday life.

The Kitchen - Sa’ada

The kitchen was never intended to feel like a separate room. It was conceived as an extension of the living space, where architecture, materials, and light continue uninterrupted to create one cohesive experience.

Functionality is thoughtfully organised without disrupting the openness of the space. Generous storage is concealed behind shaker-style oak cabinetry, while woven glass shutters introduce texture and lightness. A spacious quartz countertop provides an uninterrupted work surface, allowing preparation, cooking, and serving to happen with ease while maintaining a clean visual composition.

Material continuity became the foundation of the design. The natural stone cladding that defines the living room extends seamlessly into the kitchen dado, establishing a visual connection that carries the architectural narrative from one space to the next. The signature arch reappears within the cabinetry, subtly framing the cooking zone while reinforcing the soft language that defines the home.

The palette remains calm and understated. Warm oak, textured natural stone, soft white quartz, woven glass, and aged brass hardware come together to create a modern coastal kitchen that feels timeless rather than trend-driven.

Natural light streams in from the adjoining deck, bringing the space to life throughout the day, while the exposed concrete flooring continues seamlessly from the living room, strengthening the connection between the two spaces. A full-height sliding partition allows the kitchen to remain open during everyday living or transform into a more private workspace whenever required.

The result is a kitchen that feels less like a workspace and more like an extension of the home itself. A space where architecture, material, light, and function come together effortlessly, making cooking feel as relaxed as the beachside atmosphere that defines the entire residence.

The Kitchen - Sa’ada

The brief was to create a kitchen that felt spacious, efficient, and visually composed. A space where functionality leads every design decision while remaining seamlessly connected to the home.

Planning became the foundation of the design. A full-height sliding partition allows the kitchen to open entirely into the living room, transforming it into part of the larger social space whenever required. When closed, it functions as an independent workspace without disrupting the overall flow of the home.

The layout follows a carefully considered sequence. One side accommodates the cooking platform and integrated appliances, while the opposite side becomes a dedicated service counter with generous storage. As the kitchen extends inward, the complete wet preparation area is discreetly tucked away, keeping the most active functions hidden from view and allowing the visible spaces to remain calm, organised, and uncluttered.

The material palette reflects a modern rustic monochrome aesthetic. Leather-finished black granite countertops introduce texture and durability, white brick walls add depth and character, while silver metallic cabinetry creates a clean architectural envelope. Fully integrated appliances and handle-free cabinetry reinforce the restrained language of the space, allowing the materials to speak for themselves.

Natural light fills the kitchen, highlighting the contrast between the textured surfaces and the muted metallic finishes, while carefully considered details ensure every element contributes to both function and experience.

The result is a kitchen where form truly follows function. Every movement is intuitive, every material is purposeful, and every detail is designed to make everyday cooking feel effortless.

The Powder Room - Sa’ada

The powder room was conceived as a seamless continuation of the living room, carrying the same architectural rhythm and material language into a more intimate space.

Functionality remains effortless. A floating vanity provides generous counter space with open shelving below for everyday essentials, while the oversized organically shaped mirror enhances both scale and reflected light. Every element is positioned to allow ease of movement while maintaining a sense of openness.

Material continuity defines the experience. Natural split stone wraps the walls, introducing texture and depth, while warm timber adds balance through the floating vanity and arched door. The soft curves of the mirror echo the architectural arches, reinforcing a visual language that flows seamlessly throughout the space.

Layered lighting, warm materials, and carefully curated details elevate the room beyond utility, creating an atmosphere that feels intimate, inviting, and timeless.
The result is a powder room that feels considered rather than incidental, carrying the home’s design language through to its smallest details.
