Urban Graft
The project delved into first understanding how rapid urbanisation led to the decline of spatial qualities within settlement in developing countries. Through research, distribution of open spaces, spatial hierarchies and built morphologies of indigenous settings were better understood.

‘In nature form is cheap and material is expensive’ - J. Vincent

Prior the workshop a ‘Porosity pavilion’ was installed at Kalaghoda Arts Festival in 2015. The strategy for variable porosity in this Pavilion was an inspiration from nature. This is very evidently seen in many aspects in nature for example the bone, as they have more material at places where required and less where it does not have structural /functional need.

Gaustavino Farm House
The building design draws inspiration from the art-centric program of the cultural center. It uses local materials such as brick tiles & cement mortar, and technical knowledge to construct a guastavino vault to conceptualise the form and spatial configurations in the farm house design. Large openings incorporated in the architectural form also create a visual connection between the interiors and beautiful landscape outside.
