Vizitech is looking for a software engineer with a specialization in Spark Development.

Candidates should have the following capabilities:

1. An expertise in distributed systems and server side software
2. A good knowledge of data structures and algorithms backed with hands on experience and the ability to write efficient codes
3. A prior experience of working on building platforms
4. A thorough knowledge of Spark, its internal workflows, memory models and debugging methods
5. Apache contributors and/or committers of the data will be preferred
6. A candidate with a knowledge of Scala and Java will have an edge.

Project Details: The job will involve working with an insurance client.

Vizitech held their first Fintech Meetup in Tokyo yesterday. It was a very informative and interactive session. Many thanks to the attendees for brainstorming applications and sharing their insights.

Blockchain:
1. The underlying technology behind Bitcoins, it is a digital distributed ledger system.
2. It's scope is far beyond Bitcoin. There are several emerging companies, and we discussed travel, music, jewelry, insurance and banking industry.
3. The key advantages of are:
a. Disintermediation
b. Immutability of records
c. Decentralized and Distributed structure of the database
d. Lower transaction costs.
3. Blockchain investments have been growing, and POC's have now started converting into tests and use cases.
4. Blockchain is expected to be widely adopted in the late 2020's.

Robo-advisors:
1. Robo-advisors are a softwares that use big data, machine learning and portfolio management laws to manage personal finance for it's clients
2. It's key benefits are that it lowers cost for both the advisory company and client. The automated process also eliminates the principal-agent issue.
3. These softwares now enable lower net worth individual to get access to services like wealth management and tax planning, something considered elite once.

Our second Meetup on Blockchain. We had an amazing turnout (people who were wait-listed actually were calling in the morning asking for available seats!) We covered the following topics: birth of Bitcoin and Blockchain, technical background, cryptography, legal status and Blockchain education.
