Just 5 km from Cochin International Airport, this 12,000 sq.ft. private residence is designed for a businessman and his two children, set within a lush half-acre site in Kerala.
Responding to the region’s warm, humid climate and the challenge of a harsh west-facing orientation, the design introduces its defining feature - a dramatic floating wall.
Suspended and visually detached from the main structure, the cantilevered wall acts as a passive shading device, protecting the home from intense evening heat while maintaining openness, light, and visual connectivity.More than an architectural statement, the floating wall transforms climate constraints into a striking design solution.

Entry moves through landscaped approach into foyer mediating public and private zones, opening to a courtyard with exposed rock. A wooden deck leads toward a triple-height central volume anchored by a minimal dog-legged staircase.
A metal jali screen and glass blocks filter daylight, casting shifting patterns that animate circulation space.

the family living room is defined by a dramatic double-height floating wall, suspended from the main structure to create a sense of lightness and openness. In the formal living room, an L-shaped floating wall appears to hover effortlessly, framed by a tranquil water body that reflects light and enhances the spatial experience. These suspended architectural elements blur the line between structure and sculpture, creating spaces that feel calm, elegant, and timeless.

At the center of the residence, a triple-height lobby anchors vertical circulation. A minimal dog-legged metal staircase rises through this volume, illuminated by filtered daylight. A metal jali screen combined with operable glass block panels modulates
sunlight and ventilation while casting changing patterns across interior surfaces.
