Motor Garage
Location : Palakkad
Typ : Commercial
This Motor Styling & Garage in Palakkad is designed to create a space that feels both industrial and welcoming. The architecture combines cost-effective construction techniques with a contemporary aesthetic, resulting in a workshop that's functional, durable, and visually distinctive.
The office block is built using Porotherm block masonry, which is left exposed to celebrate the natural texture of the material while also providing better thermal performance. The entrance is sheltered with reclaimed clay roof tiles, adding warmth and connecting the design to Kerala's architectural character.
While the exterior embraces a raw, industrial expression, the interior is designed with a modern and comfortable atmosphere. A large circular glass window becomes the focal point of the office, bringing in natural light and creating a strong visual identity. The pastel red steel frames used for the doors, windows, and structural elements add a bold yet refined accent, contrasting beautifully with the earthy tones of the walls.
The overall material palette revolves around metal, glass, exposed masonry, mud-plastered surfaces, and black roofing, creating a clean contemporary look with subtle industrial influences. The carefully selected combination of pastel red, earthy brown, black, and transparent glass gives the building a unique identity that reflects both craftsmanship and modern automotive culture.
The workshop is covered with a high-performance insulated PUF sheet roof, which significantly reduces heat gain and creates a comfortable working environment even during Palakkad's hot summers. The large glazed façade is positioned on the side that receives less direct solar exposure, allowing abundant daylight inside while minimizing unwanted heat.
The result is a modern car wash and styling garage that balances aesthetics, comfort, climate responsiveness, and functionality—proving that an industrial workspace can also have a strong architectural character
