We received a special mention at the call Future Homes Europe, promoted by Fondazione per l’architettura di Torino as part of the Festival di Architettura 2026: “Chi abiterà le case vuote?”.
The call invited architects to translate the principles of accessibility, sustainability, innovation and adaptability of the European Affordable Housing Plan 2025 into concrete design visions.
Our project, Nestopia, proposes a vertical intergenerational neighbourhood model: a permanent, modular structure hosting minimal housing units, the NEST, expandable over time with additional modules, the BRANCHES, able to adapt to the changing phases of residents’ lives.
The jury recognised the quality of the representation, clear and effective in conveying a complex design vision with immediacy, and the interpretation of the principle “the house that adapts to the inhabitant, not the other way around”, translated into a flexible housing system that can be transformed over time. Particularly appreciated was the vision of the vertical intergenerational neighbourhood: an inclusive, replicable, future-oriented model.
The award was presented on 7 July 2026 in Turin by Fabrizio Gaudio, Territorial Communication Manager for Piedmont at Gruppo Iren.
Thanks to the interdisciplinary jury:
Alessandra Siviero, Roberta Ingaramo, Luca Molinari, Alessandra Paruzzo, Emanuele Piccardo, Manuela Triggianese and to Gruppo Iren.
