Hot season, in more ways than one.

While temperatures climb, our factory acceptance tests do too. Over the past month we have been running FAT sessions on tailor-made industrial UPS, DC UPS, voltage stabilizers and inverters, 882 kVA in total between the units currently on the test bench, heading to Qatar, Brazil and other destinations in the coming weeks.

FAT is the point where design meets reality: every unit is tested against the conditions it will face on site before it ever leaves the factory. It is also the point where, if something was underestimated on paper, it shows up now, not on a rig in the desert or a plant in Brazil.

Second to last working week before the summer break for us, and the test bench is as busy as ever. September is already shaping up to be just as intense, but that is a story for after the holidays.

A few weeks ago, we were doing a Google search when, by pure chance, we came across an eBay listing for one of our TV voltage stabilizers, the TVC 450, originally sold between the late 1970s and early 1980s when it was one of our best-selling models.

The unit was practically intact, original packaging and all. And the packaging itself is worth mentioning: we used to ship it disguised as a set of leather-bound classics, Dante, Leopardi, Manzoni, sitting on a shelf like an ordinary book collection rather than a piece of electronics worth stealing. A small design choice that says a lot about how much thought went into every detail, even back then.

Seeing a Layer Electronics product from over 40 years ago, preserved well enough to be treated as a collector's item, got us thinking. Build quality isn't just a line in a product catalogue. It's something you can verify over time, literally.

That stabilizer was on the market in the same years Layer Electronics, founded in 1967, was establishing itself in the electronic voltage stabilizer business. We still build voltage stabilizers today, alongside industrial UPS systems, bidirectional converters, and energy storage solutions deployed across more than 90 countries. The technology has evolved. The attention to detail hasn't.

We wonder how many other TVC 450 units are still out there, quietly sitting on shelves disguised as something else entirely. If any of you happen to own one, we'd genuinely like to see it.

Exponor Chile is now a week behind us, but the memories are still very much alive.

A huge thank you to everyone who stopped by our stand at Pavilion Lithium during these days in . The conversations, the interest in our products, and the genuine curiosity about Italian engineering made this first experience at truly special for Layer Electronics.

One moment in particular stayed with us. A class from Colegio Técnico Industrial Don Bosco Antofagasta visited our stand and interviewed us about the history of the company. They sent us the video of that interview, and watching it back made us even prouder of that encounter.

Thank you to the students and teachers of Don Bosco for your professionalism and enthusiasm. Moments like this remind us why we keep showing up at these events.

Layer Electronics has been awarded ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certifications.

Environmental management. Occupational health and safety. Two standards that reflect commitments we have held for a long time, now formally recognised.

For us, this is not a starting point. Our ISO 9001 certification dates back to 1999. Quality management has been part of how we work for over twenty-five years.

In 1967, in Trapani, Sicily, Layer Electronics was founded with a simple goal: to build reliable power systems for those who cannot afford downtime.

That goal has not changed. The technologies have evolved, the markets expanded, the continents reached. Not the substance.

UPS systems, converters, voltage stabilizers, renewable energy solutions. Installations in over 90 countries, across Oil & Gas, Defence, Utilities, and critical infrastructure. All engineered and manufactured here, in Sicily.

59 years of Italian engineering, of customers who come back because they know what they will find, of custom solutions built when standard catalogues fall short.

Two weeks in Brazil. No detail photos allowed and that tells you something about where we were.

We just completed a service mission on custom 250 kVA frequency converters manufactured by Layer Electronics, installed at Força Aérea Brasileira and Embraer facilities.
These are not off-the-shelf units. They were engineered to spec for Saab's requirements, specific voltage and frequency profiles, tight tolerances, designed to operate reliably in environments where there is no margin for error.

Being on site, working directly with the technical teams, understanding how the equipment behaves in real operating conditions: this is something you cannot replicate from a factory floor or a video call. It is also how you build the kind of trust that keeps a relationship going for years.

A special thank you to everyone who welcomed us in Brazil. The professionalism of the teams we worked with was matched only by their warmth. We were treated with a generosity that made two intense weeks feel genuinely enjoyable and that is not something you forget easily.

Brazil is a country with serious aerospace and defence capabilities. It was a privilege to work there.

Back in Trapani now. Already thinking about what the next version of these systems should look like.
