For a multi-billion-dollar medical campus redevelopment in Rochester, Minnesota, Terracon needed a monitoring approach capable of delivering reliable, automated data throughout a challenging construction program.
Spanning around 27 city blocks, the project includes demolition, utility improvements, mass bedrock excavation and blasting, as well as the construction of five new high-rise buildings and parking structures.
Several monitoring approaches were considered, but site constraints made traditional survey and GNSS solutions challenging for long-term monitoring.
Terracon’s solution brought together multiple technologies from Eddyfi Technologies Remote Monitoring Solutions:
🔹 H-Level sensors from Sisgeo for high-precision automated monitoring of structural settlement connected to a Senceive GeoWAN Digital Interface Node
🔹 Senceive Tiltmeters and Optical Displacement Sensors to monitor changes in structural movement
The technology offers a flexible long-term monitoring solution for this complex construction environment.
Thanks to Terracon for sharing the project with us. More photos and details to come!
