TA.R.I-Architects is a TAnk of Represented Ideas where to collect analysis and investigation of architecture on all scales, from urban masterplanning to forniture and art, responding to people needs and exploring structure, materials and experiences. Our architecture can be considered highly contextual, approaching to pre-existent buildings and surrounding elements in an revolutionary way. The multiple intervents are part of a more complex strategy, that is able to take action giving back urban places to the community, showing the designing process as an added value.

FANO INDOOR — New Sports Centre, Fano, Italy.

Can a sports hall become a new form of public landscape?

The project takes shape at the threshold between city and countryside, connecting with the “Un bosco per la città” urban park. The ground is excavated, shaped and reassembled into an artificial hill that embraces the sports hall and becomes part of its architecture.

A slender roof emerges above the green slopes, separated from the ground by a continuous band of light. Around it, squares, pathways and an outdoor court extend the collective dimension of sport into public space.

An inhabited fold in the ground: a place to play, meet and come together as a community.

FILIPPO VERNA SCHOOL — Fara San Martino, Italy

A new roof among the roofs.

The new Filippo Verna School is conceived as an anti-landmark within the landscape of Fara San Martino.

Its architecture emerges from the topography of the site and from the sequence of pitched roofs that define the village: a new suspended roof, simultaneously recognizable and deeply connected to its context.

Rather than imposing itself on the landscape, the school becomes part of it — framing views, opening towards the surrounding mountains and transforming the roof itself into a space for learning and collective life.

Costruire un edificio, per un architetto, ha tanti significati.

Per anni lo si immagina, lo si disegna, lo si modifica. In qualche modo diventa un’estensione del proprio pensiero, qualcosa a cui inevitabilmente ci si lega.

Rafael Moneo, ne La solitudine degli edifici, racconta proprio questo momento: quello in cui l’opera costruita si separa dal suo autore e comincia ad avere una vita propria.

Oggi, inaugurando la nuova scuola di Fara San Martino, quel passaggio è diventato reale.

Un progetto nato osservando questo luogo, il paese arroccato sulla Maiella, i suoi tetti e il paesaggio che lo circonda, è oggi un edificio costruito. E da questo momento non è più soltanto il progetto di chi lo ha pensato, né di chi ha lavorato per realizzarlo.

È la scuola di chi la abiterà ogni giorno.

Forse è proprio questo il momento più bello dell’architettura: quando un edificio smette di appartenere all’architetto e diventa parte di una comunità.

Constructing a building has many meanings for an architect.

For years, you imagine it, draw it, modify it. In some way, it becomes an extension of your own thoughts, something you inevitably grow attached to.

In *The Solitude of Buildings*, Rafael Moneo reflects precisely on this moment: when a completed work separates from its author and begins to take on a life of its own.

Today, with the opening of the new school in Fara San Martino, that moment became real.

A project born from observing this place—the town nestled against the Maiella, its rooftops and the landscape surrounding it—is now a built reality. And from this moment on, it no longer belongs only to those who imagined it, nor to those who worked to make it possible.

It belongs to those who will inhabit it every day.

Perhaps this is the most beautiful moment in architecture: when a building ceases to belong to the architect and becomes part of a community.

In 2020, Penta Real Estate launched an international competition to transform a former industrial site in Prague’s Vysočany district into a new residential development.

Our proposal began with a conviction: collaboration between young practices could itself become a concept to making architecture. We brought together six emerging European studios, making their different experiences and sensibilities the foundation of the project.

This was the starting point for “Blok šesti”: a single development comprising six buildings, each entrusted to a different studio within a shared urban framework. Joining us at TARI Architects were Irgen Salianji Architecture, Srdan Nad LOCAL and __sarasimoska Arhitektura.

Each studio would respond to a different condition of the site: the corner, the street frontage, the relationship with the park or with the existing buildings. A set of common principles would bring different architectural languages and approaches together, seeking in the diversity of the six buildings the richness that gives urban places their distinctive character.

“− Ego + Synergy” captured the intention behind the proposal: six practices choosing a shared direction while retaining their individual voices. The variety of the buildings and the courtyard connecting them gave this intention a physical form.

The competition did not turn out as we had hoped. Six years later, however, we still believe in that way of working: sharing our ideas with others, being willing to rethink them, and discovering how far they can develop through dialogue. Looking back at this project today, we still believe it was worth trying. And that we need to do it more often.

A temporary forest.

At the construction site of the new Kindergarten school in Pichini, the building gradually emerges through a dense landscape of props, formwork, concrete and steel.

Before becoming classrooms, shared spaces and places for play, architecture reveals itself as a system of forces: elements support one another, structures overlap and materials expose the logic of construction.

The concrete frame is taking shape, while the first branching steel elements begin to define the relationship between the building and its outdoor spaces.

Can architecture restore a human scale to bigness?

DSK-500 transforms a 220 × 610-metre industrial complex through fragmentation rather than replacement. Within the existing structural skeleton, modular production spaces are interwoven with a continuous Space for Relationships: a protected landscape of courtyards, gardens and elevated paths for meeting, learning, exhibiting and sharing.

Production and collective life become fragments of one adaptable system—fragments of one soul.
