I was speaking to my mom a few days ago when she told me that friends and relatives have been expressing their concern for me especially when they hear news about Italy. 🇮🇹
A few weeks ago, I posted a photo of me on my personal account happily eating an Asian lunch in my apartment kitchen. Now, I just wanted to take a few minutes to update everyone to say that thankfully, I am still healthy and safe, still holed up in my apartment as I have been for the past few weeks. ☺️
My classmates and I have actually been quite busy because our online classes have pushed on! On most days, we have class from 9am-6pm and we spend our nights and free time on group calls while still working on requirements. They're still quite a lot. 😅
I'm sharing an axonometric diagram I made as part of one of our assignments. This is a small part of Miag-ao beach in Iloilo, a place that holds fond memories from my childhood.
While researching for this assignment, I found out that something I used to see often when I spent summer afternoons there is a unique local tradition that has slowly dwindled through the years— 'budbud' salt farming. I hope that we can bring attention back to 'asinderos' and this practice by patronizing the tradition and local product.
That's about it for now! Will (try to) post updates here once in a while! Hope everyone is staying healthy and safe! ✨
P.S. A lot of the content of my homework– including some of the photos I'm reposting here– was taken from the article of Jonathan R. Matias with Araceli Q. Adrias and Coleen P. Sucgang called "Asinderos de Miag-ao" posted on the Sulu Garden Miagao website. They described in detail and with photos the process of budbud farming. The article was from 2015.
P.P.S. The image showing an asindero carrying the bamboo pole was taken by Norman Posecion and it won the 2nd PAGCOR National Photo Competition. It was grabbed from the article. The other photos were also taken from various sources on the internet.
