It’s certainly busy up at Jersey Airport Departures! Last week we completed formation of the lift pit, that will house the new lift to the mezzanine floor. We also completed removal of the old first floor balcony, allowing to commence installation of bracketry for the first-floor primary support beam. These brackets will allow the support steel to the new first floor walkway (behind №1 Lounge) to be fixed in place, forming part of the new mezzanine. Great progress all round!

This week were on site at Jersey Airport Departures, carrying out a routine Health and Safety inspection.

We engage to act as our external H&S advisor. They carry out regular inspections, and deliver toolbox talks from start through to completion. This external audit keeps us accountable, and ensures that our staff always have H&S at the forefront of their minds, fostering a culture of shared responsibility.

What an incredible night for the Ashbe Construction team! We were thrilled to attend the IoD Jersey Director of the Year Awards this past Friday to support our Managing Director who was shortlisted for SME Director of the Year.

While Ben didn’t take home the trophy this time, being named one of the top SME Directors on the island is a massive achievement in itself. Being shortlisted among such talented local leaders is a huge honour and we couldn’t be prouder.

A huge congratulations to all the winners and fellow nominees who were recognised for their outstanding contributions to Jersey’s business community.

Thanks to the IOD Jersey for an unforgettable night.

We are incredibly proud to have recently completed the voluntary fit-out of a new community space for .

Construction is about more than just physical structures, it’s about creating spaces where people can thrive. Providing our skills on a voluntary basis for this project was a natural choice. Addiction within the construction industry is a real problem, with higher rates of substance abuse than many other professions.

By helping Silkworth expand their facilities and establish this safe, non-judgmental space, we’re ensuring that islanders struggling with addiction, no matter who they are or what profession they are in, or their families and friends, have a dedicated space to go for advice, and take that first step to rebuild their lives.

We are looking forward to continuing our support to Silkworth, and working alongside them going forward to help the charity grow their incredibly important presence on the island.

Inspiring the future! Yesterday we were pleased to host children from St Michaels School at our site in St Peter. They spent a great morning with our MD Ben Cairney and Construction Director Chris Kent, talking about how houses are built and the importance of strong foundations. The even got some hands on experience, and working as a team they completed a mini roof in our designated training bay. We hope they left feeling inspired to build all sorts of things!

This beloved local hotel is being transformed into 20 stylish, self catering apartments, with upgraded facilities offering a fresh, modern experience, whilst keeping the warmth and hospitality that La Place is known for. Join us at the topping our ceremony for the fantastic new affordable homes development currently underway at St Peter’s. Working in conjunction with Eastleigh Development and .homes, this development will offer 42 x 2, 3 and 4 bedroom homes, and is designed to be a largely car free community within the heart of the development. We are excited to be making excellent progress towards completion and can’t wait to share it with you all!

We are excited to have been appointed as Principal Contractor for Phase 2a of the Jersey Airport Departures redevelopment. This phase will involve completing key infrastructure works, which will enable the main refurbishment to progress, as well as the construction of the new mezzanine floor.

Whilst we have already been on site for a few weeks, yesterday marked a key milestone in the handover that will allow us to progress. The whole area has now been secured, and passengers will utilise newly created temporary facilities until completion of the main works.

We can’t wait to see the final outcome and look forward to working with Ports of Jersey on this exciting project.
