【Re-Discovery of old tools】
In the ancient Japanese city of Kyoto, tea ceremony culture was always close to hand. The tools used at the tea ceremony seat have a function beyond the merely utilitarian, to create a once-in-a-lifetime sense of place tailored to the season, the guest's state of mind, and the context of the topic at hand.

Despite the great interest they hold even today, with changing times and lifestyles, tools like these can be found stored away in ordinary households. The Re-Discovery of Old Tools project looks at these old, disused tools as new materials, and attempts, through technological updates and repurposing, to restore their value by finding contemporary situations in which they could be useful.

The sheet-form lighting, printed on 125 μm PET film, can be decorated freely in any location, and is the enjoyable culmination of a collaboration between technicians, creators, and decorators.

The Case Study Houses, created in America during the period between 1945 to 1966, were prototypes in the exploration of new residential housing designs, using combinations of mass produced materials, and were engineered to be reproducible. With the ability to now freely draw circuits through AgIC’s inkjet printing, since 2015 we have been involved in the production of the Case Study Lamps - a group of prototypes for exploring new lighting designs, using 21st century manufacturing methods, reproducible, yet capable of evolving in separate parts.
