私の盆栽置き場の一角。
松や真柏を中心に、石付きや小品など、樹種も樹形もさまざまな木々を育てています。
完成に近づいている木もあれば、まだまだこれから枝を作っていく木もあります。
一本一本に違った個性があり、それぞれの成長を眺めながら、少しずつ手を入れていくのが盆栽の楽しみです。
同じ棚に並んでいても、幹の動き、枝の流れ、葉の表情はそれぞれ違います。
水やりをしながら木々の変化を確認する時間も、私にとって大切な日課になっています。

A corner of my bonsai growing area.
I grow a variety of trees, mainly pines and junipers, as well as root-over-rock bonsai and smaller trees in different styles.
Some are getting closer to their finished form, while others still have a long way to go as I continue developing their branches.
Every tree has its own character, and one of the things I enjoy most about bonsai is watching each one grow and gradually working on it over time.
Even when they are sitting together on the same bench, each tree has its own trunk movement, branch flow, and foliage character.
Checking the small changes in my trees while watering them has become an important part of my daily routine.

樹高約25cmのガジュマル。
片手に載るような小さな樹ですが、どっしりとした根元と太い幹により存在感を感じさせてくれます。
ガジュマルらしい力強さを残しながら、これからも少しずつ枝数を増やし、小さな鉢の中に、大きな樹の風景をつくりたいです。

A Ficus microcarpa, about 25 cm (10 inches) tall.
It is a small tree that can fit in one hand, but its solid base and thick trunk give it a strong presence.
While preserving the strength and character typical of a Ficus, I would like to gradually develop more fine branches and create the impression of a large, mature tree within this small pot.

三本の松、三つの表情。

繊細さと気品を持つ五葉松、荒々しさと力強さを持つ黒松(石付)、柔らかさと逞しさを持つ赤松。
同じ松の仲間でありながら、こうして並べてみると本当に雰囲気が違います。
葉性も、幹肌も、枝ぶりも、それぞれに魅力があります。
完成された姿だけではなく、これからどう育て、どう変化していくのかを想像する時間も盆栽の楽しみのひとつ。
急がず、木の時間に付き合いながら育てていきたいと思います。

Three pines, three different expressions.
The elegance and delicacy of Japanese white pine.
The rugged strength of Japanese black pine. The softness and resilience of Japanese red pine.
They are all pines, yet when placed side by side, each reveals a completely different character. Their needles, bark, and branches all have their own beauty.
Bonsai is not only about the finished image. Part of the joy is imagining how a tree will grow, mature, and change in the years ahead.
No need to rush. I’ll simply spend time with these trees and let them develop at their own pace.

左は黒松と低木、石、小さな小屋が組み合わせられた箱庭。
右は石を抱くように根を伸ばした黒松の石付き。
表現の方法はまったく違いますが、どちらも小さな空間の中に自然の風景を感じられるところが気に入っています。
黒松はまだ枝葉を整理していきたい部分もありますが、あまり作り込み過ぎず、石と松が長い時間をかけて馴染んできたような姿を目指して、ゆっくり育てていきたいと思います。

On the left is a miniature landscape made with plants, stones, and a hut.
On the right is a black pine growing over rock, with its exposed roots embracing the stone.
They are very different ways of expressing a landscape, but I enjoy how both can suggest a little piece of nature within such a small space.
The black pines still have some areas I’d like to refine, but I don’t want to overwork it.
I’d like to let them develop naturally, as if the pines have slowly grown over many years in a natural way.

Here's my Sekka Hinoki, which I've shared before.
Despite the persistent summer heat, it's still producing fresh growth, making it a joy to observe every day.
I'm considering lightly thinning the crown to help direct more energy to the cascading branches below.

購入時からは針金は一切掛けず、今のところ樹形を乱す枝の剪定と植え付け角度変更のみで管理しています。
盆休み期間は水やりできないので家に持ち帰り予定です。

I gave the Schefflera on my office desk a light pruning today.

Since I bought it, I haven't used any wire at all. So far, I've only managed it by pruning branches that disrupted the silhouette and by changing the planting angle.

I'll be taking it home during the Obon holidays since I won't be able to water it at the office.
