Today marks day 2 of the CS for MoWSI and NRVWWDA leadership led by Board members Mr. David Kimetto and Prof. Sammy Letema and the CEO Mr. Edwin Rotich projects inspections.

The day started with the inspection of Eldoret Last Mile Connectivity Project - Additional Works. The project is implemented under The Kenya Towns Sustainable Water Supply and Programme.(KTWSSP)Currently the project is at 17% completion.

During the afternoon, the team inspected Oletepes tank, raw water main, treatment plant, raw water pipeline, kipkaren dam being implemented under the Kipkaren Dam water supply project. These projects when completed will serve over 300,000 people of Uasin Gishu County.

Today, the NRVWWDA leadership, led by Board Director Prof. Sammy Latema and the CEO Mr. Edwin C. Rotich, together with the technical team, joined Cabinet Secretary for the Ministry of Water, Sanitation and Irrigation Eng. Eric Mugaa on a joint supervision mission for Moi’s Bridge–Matunda Water Supply and Sewerage Project.

The Project which started in October 2024 has reached 51% progress. The inspection covered intake works, raw water pipeline, a conventional treatment plant, distribution networks, storage tanks, and water kiosks. The contractor was urged to accelerate implementation. Once completed, the project is expected to supply clean water to approximately 23,112 households by 2038 across three counties.

These visits reaffirmed the shared commitment to expanding access to clean, reliable water across the North Rift Region and to ensure the timely and high-quality delivery of ongoing water infrastructure projects.

The North Rift Valley Water Works Development Agency (NRVWWDA) today joined the Ministry of Water, Sanitation and Irrigation and other stakeholders in the launch of Phase II of the Cheminya Dam Water Supply Project, marking another significant milestone in expanding access to safe and reliable water for communities in the project area.

Phase I of the project, successfully implemented by NRVWWDA, involved the rehabilitation of the dam embankment, installation of a solar-powered pumping system, construction of transmission pipelines, rehabilitation of storage tanks, and development of the distribution network. These investments have laid a firm foundation for improved and sustainable water service delivery to the beneficiary communities.

Phase II will be implemented by the National Irrigation Authority, reflecting the Ministry's collaborative approach to accelerating water infrastructure development and maximizing the impact of public investment through inter-agency partnerships.

NRVWWDA remains committed to delivering sustainable water and sanitation infrastructure that improves livelihoods, supports socio-economic development, and advances the Government's agenda of ensuring universal access to clean and safe water.

The North Rift Valley Water Works Development Agency (NRVWWDA) officially handed over the Chebokokwa Primary School Borehole Project to the contractor, marking the commencement of works aimed at improving access to safe, reliable and sustainable water supply for Chebokokwa Primary School and neighbouring communities in Cheboror Location, Kapchemutwo Ward, Keiyo North Sub-County, Elgeyo Marakwet County.

The project comprises the drilling and equipping of a borehole, installation of a solar-powered pumping system, construction of a pump house, a 24m³ elevated steel storage tank, a water kiosk, sanitation facilities, and approximately 1.6 kilometres of water distribution pipelines to serve the school and surrounding communities.

The site handover was attended by Keiyo North MP Hon. Adams Kipsanai, alongside local leaders, members of the community and other stakeholders, demonstrating a shared commitment to the successful implementation of the project and the expansion of sustainable water services.

Speaking during the event, NRVWWDA Manager, Infrastructure Development, Eng. Jimmy Kemboi reaffirmed that the investment forms part of the Agency's continued commitment to developing strategic water infrastructure that enhances access to clean and safe water, improves public health throughout our area of jurisdiction.

More than 6,200 households in Kaptarakwa Ward, Keiyo South Constituency, are set to benefit from improved access to safe and reliable water following the official handover of the Chemwabul Dam Water Supply Project to the contractor today at Kaptarkok Primary School by the North Rift Valley Water Works Development Agency.

The project will serve the communities of Kipchagan, Kamugo, Milimani, Kaptere, Rokocho and Kaptarakwa, as well as several public institutions.
The scope of works includes partial desilting of Chemwabul Dam and repair of the weir, construction of a 30m³ masonry sump, installation of a solar-powered surface pumping system, construction of 100m³ and 50m³ masonry storage tanks, and laying of approximately 3.6 kilometres of HDPE rising main and 9.8 kilometres of distribution pipelines.

The site handover ceremony was attended by Keiyo South MP Hon. Gideon Kimaiyo, Elgeyo Marakwet Woman Representative Hon. Caroline Ng'elechei, the area MCA, local leaders and members of the community, underscoring the shared commitment to improving water access and supporting sustainable development.

The Agency team was led by General Manager, Infrastructure Development, Eng. Jimmy Kemboi, who reaffirmed NRVWWDA's commitment to supporting the Government's development agenda through strategic water infrastructure investments that stimulate economic growth, create employment opportunities and improve the quality of life for communities across the North Rift region.

Today, the Agency hosted the Deputy Auditor-General in charge of Financial Audit Sector 6, CPA Moses Mulonzia, who paid a courtesy call as part of his familiarization tour of the North Rift region.

During the visit, CPA Mulonzia commended the Agency for its consistent clean and unqualified audit opinions, noting that the achievement reflects NRVWWDA's commitment to prudent financial management, accountability, and the responsible stewardship of public resources entrusted to the Agency.

While representing the CEO CPA Edwin Rotich, the General Manager Infrastructure Development, Eng. Jimmy Kemboi, reaffirmed the Agency's commitment to upholding the highest standards of accountability and transparency in the implementation of water and sanitation projects across its area of jurisdiction. He noted that sound financial management remains a critical pillar in accelerating access to safe, reliable, and sustainable water services for communities.

The visit provided an opportunity to strengthen collaboration and reaffirm the shared commitment to good governance, value for money, and efficient utilization of public resources in support of national development goals.

Thousands of livestock and pastoral households in Chesakam and the surrounding areas of Kapenguria Constituency, West Pokot County, are set to benefit from improved water access following the official handover of the Chesakam Water Pan Project to the contractor by the North Rift Valley Water Works Development Agency (NRVWWDA).

The project will provide a sustainable water source for livestock and communities, particularly during dry seasons, strengthening livelihoods and enhancing resilience in the area. Upon completion, the water pan will have a storage capacity of over 20,000 cubic metres of water and will include the construction of sanitation blocks to improve hygiene and water access infrastructure.

The site handover was conducted on behalf of the Agency's CEO, CPA Edwin Rotich, by Senior Engineer Allan Sogomo, marking the commencement of works. The contractor committed to completing the project within the stipulated timeline of eight months to ensure communities begin realizing its benefits as soon as possible.

The Chesakam Water Pan Project forms part of NRVWWDA's ongoing efforts to expand access to reliable and sustainable water and sanitation services across the North Rift region, in line with the Agency's mandate of improving livelihoods and supporting socio-economic development through strategic water infrastructure investments.

Today, NRVWWDA officially handed over the Kambi Tatu Dam Water Project to the contractor, paving the way for the commencement of works that will improve access to safe and reliable water for approximately 1,400 households in Sergoit Ward, Moiben Constituency.

Upon completion, the project will benefit surrounding communities and key institutions, including Sociot Primary School, Cheplaskei Dispensary and several places of worship. The scope of works includes partial desilting of Kambi Tatu Dam, construction of a dam embankment road and culverts, development of an intake, sump and infiltration system, installation of a hybrid solar-powered pumping system, and associated water supply infrastructure.

Earlier in the day, the Agency also handed over the Koibeiyot Primary School Borehole Water Project to the contractor. The project is expected to further enhance water access for residents of Sergoit and its environs in Uasin Gishu County.

The handover ceremonies were attended by Moiben MP Hon. Prof. Phyllis Bartoo, the area MCA, local leaders and members of the community. The projects form part of NRVWWDA's continued commitment to expanding access to clean, safe and reliable water for communities across its area of jurisdiction.
