TRAINING ๐Ÿ’ช ๐Ÿง - Last Saturday, we successfully concluded our week-long Safe and Effective Use of Chemicals training.

Through interactive sessions and hands-on learning, our employees strengthened their knowledge and skills in the safe and responsible handling of chemicalsโ€”helping to create a safer workplace while protecting the environment.

Together, weโ€™re building a stronger culture of safety, one training at a time. A big thank you to all participants for their commitment and enthusiasm. Together, weโ€™re making safety a shared responsibility.

๐ŸŒฟ Meet the Team: Yegon Kennedy ๐ŸŒฟ

Today weโ€™re shining a spotlight on Yegon Kennedy, who has been part of the MEO family for 2 years and 7 months.

As part of our security team, Kennedy plays a vital role in safeguarding lives and property, helping ensure a safe and secure environment for everyone at MEO. His work includes access control, crime detection, investigations, and protecting company assets.

What Kennedy enjoys most about working at MEO is the supportive environment, strong leadership, and excellent teamwork. He credits the guidance, training, and encouragement from leaders and colleagues as key motivations in his daily work.

One of the biggest challenges he faces is dealing with intruders who attempt to trespass, damage company property, or breach security measures. Through vigilance and integrity, Kennedy helps keep MEO secure and running smoothly.

When asked about the impact he hopes to make, Kennedy emphasized the importance of preventing crime, maintaining strong security standards, and carrying out his duties with honesty and professionalism. He is especially proud of the leadership and management team for the support and services they provide to employees.

Looking ahead, Kennedy sees a bright future filled with growth and opportunity. Outside of work, he enjoys playing volleyball and going for road runs to stay active and healthy.

Thank you, Kennedy, for your dedication, integrity, and commitment to keeping MEO safe every day. ๐Ÿ‘

We are beyond excited to share that we have spotted our very first African Fish Eagle at Mount Elgon orchards! ๐Ÿฆ…

The African Fish Eagle (Icthyophaga vocifer) is one of Africaโ€™s most iconic birds of prey, known for its striking white head, rich chestnut body, and powerful call echoing across lakes and rivers. The species depends on healthy freshwater ecosystems and abundant fish populations to survive.

At our farm, we have developed an extensive sustainable water catchment system that collects rainwater from the rooftops of 45 hectares of greenhouses. The water flows through canals into large dams, which not only support floating solar energy platforms but have also become thriving ecosystems for wildlife.

The dams are home to tilapia fish that live there after introduction and are not commercially farmed. Over time, the area has attracted many bird species โ€” and now, for the first time, a magnificent Fish Eagle! Seeing this beautiful raptor hunting above our dams is a special reminder that agriculture, renewable energy, water conservation, and biodiversity can exist hand in hand. ๐ŸŒ๐ŸŒฑ

Seen from above, our farm stretches between the Suam River and the Kitaleโ€“Endebess road, right on the border of Kenya and Uganda. A place where agriculture meets nature at the edge of two nations. ๐ŸŒ๐ŸŒฑ

Established in 1921 by Bobโ€™s grandfather, the land has grown into a unique mix of agriculture, conservation, and community.

๐ŸŒน 45 hectares of roses
๐Ÿฅ‘ 120 hectares of avocados
๐ŸŒณ 150 hectares of protected indigenous forest
๐Ÿ„ Farmland, rivers and canals, homes, roads, and community areas in between

The farm has many reservoirs for sustainable water management, multiple solar fields, and a hydro-dam for green energy, an airstrip, and many tree plantations for sustainable wood production โ€” plantations that also serve as habitats for wildlife.

Slide 2 zoom-in: Across the road from the farm lies Mount Elgon Trust, officially established in 2005 โ€” a foundation focused on supporting local communities through education, healthcare, conservation, and development projects. Mount Elgon Trust supports multiple schools with over 4,000 students, a hospital treating 24,000 patients annually, a farmersโ€™ training centre training 900 farmers each year, many community outreach projects, and an orphanage.

From this aerial view, you can truly see the connection between nature, farming, history, and people. Over a century later, this land continues to grow with purpose. ๐Ÿ’š
