L.S.P Studio: Light Scale Proportion Studio

“Tala House”

L.S.P Studio - Introducing our first design and build project.

The brief required the design of a two-bedroom container unit, with two toilets, a kitchen area, a lounge and a separate store, to accommodate a weekend farm house. The site is located in Kilimambogo, Kiambu County, Kenya, which experiences relatively hot days and cold nights.

Given the client’s budget and possible variations in the design, we proposed four different designs, this being the fourth and last.

Light and views remained an essential aspect of the final design. Large, windows, encompass the social spaces within the container unit.

The unit placement on site, allows for beautiful views towards the surrounding natural landscape, as well as adequate evening sunlight to avoid glare.

The final finishes of the design focus on neutral colors to accentuate the surrounding nature of the site.

Lastly, the longer axis of the containers, sits along the east-west axis, with majority of the openings along the north and south facades, which is essential for passive thermal cooling during the door, and offers a wholesome sustainable design experience.
