Tunza Dada Fresh Field Enterprise provides mentorship and practical training to women on how to use empty containers to grow vegetables for household consumption and income generation.
The initiative teaches women how to:
Reuse empty buckets, sacks, jerrycans, tins, and plastic containers
Prepare soil mixtures using locally available materials
Plant and manage vegetables such as sukuma wiki (kale), spinach, tomatoes, onions, and coriander
Purpose of the Program
Improve household food security
Promote environmental conservation through recycling
Reduce food expenses
Through container gardening, women with limited land space—especially in urban and peri-urban areas—can grow nutritious vegetables right at their homes. This method promotes sustainability, affordability, and self-reliance.
