TERMITE LIFE CYCLE - FREE INSPECTION
The termite life cycle begins with the eggs, laid by the Queen in large quantities to sustain the colony. These eggs are carefully protected and nurtured by worker termites until they hatch into larvae.
The larva grows into a nymph, which develops into one of four roles: workers, soldiers, reproductive termites, or supplementary reproductives, depending on the needs of the colony.
The nymphs are young termites with the potential to become different castes. Some nymphs grow wings to become future reproductive termites, while others may take on roles within the existing colony.
The worker termites are responsible for the majority of labor in the colony, such as gathering food, building tunnels, and caring for the Queen, soldiers, and young. They also play a vital role in colony expansion by constructing large nests. These nests often grow close to each other and can stretch hundreds of meters. Interconnected nests help the colony share resources and defend against predators like ants, ensuring survival and growth.
The soldier termites protect the colony using their large heads and strong jaws to fight predators. They focus entirely on defense and rely on worker termites for food.
The reproductive termites, including the King and Queen, are the colony’s leaders. The Queen lays thousands of eggs, while the King supports her in maintaining the population and ensuring the colony thrives.
The secondary King and Queen, or supplementary reproductives, assist in reproduction when the primary Queen or King cannot fulfill their roles or if the colony needs to expand to distant areas.
The alate reproductives are winged termites that leave the colony during swarming season to mate and establish new colonies. These insects are critical for the survival of the species, as they can fly far distances to create nests in new locations. When existing colonies become fully populated, the alates play a key role in spreading termites to new territories.
The dealate reproductives are the new Kings and Queens of these colonies. After shedding their wings, they work together to build and grow their new nests, starting the termite life cycle again.
Understanding the termite life cycle highlights the need for effective control to prevent the rapid growth and spread of these colonies. Contact Truly Nolen at 098 925 678 for a free inspection anywhere in Cambodia and protect your property today.
