A warm welcome to 𝗗𝗿. 𝗗𝗲𝗻𝗶𝘀 𝗦𝘂𝗮𝗿𝘀𝗮𝗻𝗮, the new 𝗗𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗞𝗼𝗻𝗿𝗮𝗱-𝗔𝗱𝗲𝗻𝗮𝘂𝗲𝗿-𝗦𝘁𝗶𝗳𝘁𝘂𝗻𝗴.

It was a pleasure meeting Dr. Suarsana at our office and exchanging views on strengthening German–Sri Lankan relations, collaboration, and opportunities for greater engagement.

AHK Sri Lanka recently hosted a 𝗕𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗸𝗳𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝗗𝗶𝗮𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘂𝗲 with the 𝗕𝗼𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗼𝗳 𝗜𝗻𝘃𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝗿𝗶 𝗟𝗮𝗻𝗸𝗮 (𝗕𝗢𝗜), bringing together members of the German business community for an engaging discussion on Sri Lanka’s investment outlook and opportunities for future collaboration.

We were pleased to welcome 𝗠𝗿. 𝗗𝘂𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗮 𝗛𝘂𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗺𝘂𝘄𝗮, 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗶𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗕𝗼𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗼𝗳 𝗜𝗻𝘃𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝗿𝗶 𝗟𝗮𝗻𝗸𝗮, for a discussion moderated by Mr. Martin Klose, Chief Delegate of AHK Sri Lanka.

The dialogue explored key areas for future investment, including:

🔹 Education & skills development

Participants also exchanged views on practical investment challenges, including access to land, energy availability, skilled labour, infrastructure, raw materials and investment incentives.

The open and constructive exchange reinforced the importance of continued dialogue between the BOI and the German business community in supporting investment, business partnerships and sustainable economic opportunities in Sri Lanka.

👋We are pleased to welcome Alicia Sperling as the new intern at AHK Sri Lanka!

Alicia is currently in the final year of her bachelor's degree in political and social studies at the University of Würzburg. Before joining AHK Sri Lanka, she gained experience in public affairs and policy research at the Representation of the Free State of Bavaria to the European Union in Brussels.

She also worked as a working student at YouGov in Nuremberg, contributing to market research projects in the FMCG sector for multinational clients. A semester abroad in Hong Kong further strengthened Alicia’s interest in relations between Europe and East and Southeast Asia.

During her internship, Alicia is looking forward to expanding her understanding of international business and exploring economic relations between Sri Lanka and Germany, including how these may develop in the future. Sri Lanka’s recent economic challenges and ongoing recovery provide a compelling context for examining economic transformation and international cooperation.

Alicia is excited to contribute her research experience, intercultural perspective, and enthusiasm to our team.

We’re excited to have Alicia on board and wish her a successful and enriching time at AHK Sri Lanka.
