🏛️ Foundation Stone Laying Ceremony | Indoor Sports Arena – Jaffna

The Foundation Stone Laying Ceremony for the Construction of the state-of-the-art Indoor Sports Arena was successfully held at the Valikamam South Pradeshiya Sabha premises, marking a significant milestone in the commencement of this major infrastructure development in the Northern Province.

யாழ்ப்பாணம் – வலிகாமம் தெற்கு பிரதேச சபையின் தலைமை அலுவலக வளாகத்தில் அமையவுள்ள புதிய உள்ளக விளையாட்டு அரங்கிற்கான அடிக்கல் நாட்டும் விழா வெகு விமரிசையாக நடைபெற்றது.

The auspicious ceremony was held under the leadership of Mr T. Prakash, Hon. Chairman of Valikamam South Pradeshiya Sabha.

Designed to uplift regional sports and empower the youth, this mega project—valued at LKR 241,977,224.99 and fully funded by the Valikamam South Pradeshiya Sabha—will feature modern multi-sport courts, advanced spectator areas, training facilities, and complete amenities adhering to contemporary standards.

இளைஞர்கள் மற்றும் விளையாட்டு வீரர்களுக்கு நவீன வசதிகளை ஏற்படுத்திக் கொடுப்பதுடன், பிராந்திய மட்டத்தில் விளையாட்டுத்துறையை புதிய உச்சத்திற்கு கொண்டுசெல்லும் முக்கிய உட்கட்டமைப்புத் திட்டமாக இது அமையவுள்ளது.

🏗️ The Foundation Stone Laying Ceremony for the Construction of the Four-Storey Student Hostel was successfully held on 22nd August 2026, marking a significant milestone in the commencement of this important development.

We were honoured to have the Hon. Prime Minister of Sri Lanka, Dr. Harini Amarasuriya, grace this special occasion as the Chief Guest. 🇱🇰

Designed to provide modern and comfortable residential accommodation for 200 students, the proposed hostel will include 50 student rooms, together with study areas, pantry facilities, sanitary and washing areas, accessible accommodation, supervisory spaces and other essential facilities.

🏗️ Building Better Spaces for Student Life

We are pleased to share the beginning of an exciting new development, the construction of a Four-Storey Student Hostel at the University of Vavuniya, designed to provide modern and comfortable residential accommodation for 200 students.

The proposed hostel will feature 50 student rooms, together with dedicated study areas, pantry facilities, sanitary and washing areas, accessible accommodation, supervisory spaces and other essential facilities, creating a practical, comfortable and student-focused living environment. 🏢📚

📅 Contract Period: August 2026 to April 2027

Preparatory works were carried out today at the project site ahead of tomorrow’s Foundation Stone Laying Ceremony, marking an important milestone as the project moves into its construction phase. 🚧

🏗️ Another week of steady progress at the Sri Lanka Police Training School – Kalutara!

Construction activities across Blocks B and C are continuing successfully, with significant progress achieved in structural finishing, roofing, plumbing, electrical, and waterproofing works.

🔹 Internal and external plastering works are ongoing for Blocks B and C
🔹 Roof timber frame installation is progressing for Block B
🔹 Roof sheet installation has been successfully completed for Block C
🔹 Putty works are ongoing on the ground floor of Block C
🔹 Toilet waterproofing works are currently in progress
🔹 Plumbing installations for the toilets are advancing as planned
🔹 Electrical wiring works have been completed on the ground floor of Block B and the first floor of Block C
