Lifting Plan
A lifting plan inside the hoistway must be prepared thoroughly and systematically. The use of lifting equipment must strictly correspond to its intended function and meet safety criteria, including having a clearly defined Safe Working Load (SWL), valid certification, and undergoing periodic inspections or routine calibrations.
Executing lifting operations in a planned manner and in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) provides several key operational benefits, including:
1. Preventing Workplace Accidents
Minimizing operational risks and ensuring occupational health and safety (OHS) for technicians working inside the hoistway.
2. Enhancing Operational Efficiency and Workflow
Preventing potential technical issues and downtime, thereby ensuring tasks are completed on schedule.
3. Preserving Lift Component Quality
Protecting elevator materials and components from physical damage caused by improper handling during the lifting process.
4. Optimizing Equipment Lifespan
Extending the service life of high-value tools and equipment through proper usage and regular maintenance.
5. Elevating Company Reputation and Credibility
Building a positive brand image and demonstrating professional excellence to clients and the broader construction industry.
Lifting Plan & Work Method Statement
Based on field experience in elevator installation and construction, there are 6 (six) primary stages that strictly require a detailed lifting plan and clear work method statement:
1. Guide Rail Lifting Plan
Planning the procedures and lifting equipment capacity for the transportation and installation of guide rails inside the hoistway.
2. Traction Machine Lifting Plan
Planning the rigging and lifting procedures to hoist the traction machine into the machine room or to the top of the hoistway for Machine Roomless (MRL) types.
3. Car Assembly Method
Standard procedures and step-by-step sequence for assembling the car frame, bottom platform, and elevator cabin.
4. Counterweight Frame Assembly Method
Safety protocols and procedural steps for positioning and assembling the counterweight frame structure.
5. Roping Method
Procedures for installing steel wire ropes. For Machine Roomless (MRL) units, using suspended scaffolding is strongly recommended to ensure technician safety and seamless work access.
6. Counterweight Loading Method
Step-by-step procedure for loading filler blocks into the counterweight frame in stages, aligned with load balancing calculations.
