Inspection after finishing the welding works for the foam chamber platform supports and the platforms for the fuel tanks at the tank farm of BIA was carried out yesterday with the participation of Bureau veritas and CNCEC engineers at fabrication yard in Warakapola.

We recently completed the fabrication and installation of two fire staircases for the new admin building of CPC (Ceylon Petroleum Corporation) at Bandaranaike international airport, Katunayake. The work was carried out under the China National Chemical Engineering Corporation’s ongoing project of Upgrading and development of the fuel hydrant system of Bandaranaike international airport, Katunayake.
The welding work of the structures were inspected by the Bureau Veritas (third party inspector). The inspection was followed by the hot dipped galvanizing to prevent corrosion. Three coat painting was done to further enhance the protection of the structure from the sea breeze.
The three coats of paint used were as below.
1. Sigma cover 280
2. Sigma cover 456
3. Sigma dur 550

The work was approved by all the involved parties. (China National Chemical Engineering Corporation/ Bureau Veritas/ CPC)
