Tsurumurasaki (つるむらさき), or Japanese salad, is a tropical leafy vegetable used similarly to spinach. Originally from South and Southeast Asia, it is not native to Japan. It is also known as Malabar spinach or Ceylon spinach, although botanically it is not related to true spinach.

In its natural habitat, Basella alba grows as a vigorous climbing vine, winding through shrubs and other vegetation and using them as natural supports. This heat-loving plant typically occurs along warm, humid forest edges, clearings, riverbanks and around settlements, where there is plenty of light.

Come to eye-witness this little forest curiosity.

HOSTIRIS
Hosta and Iris — such a cross is practically impossible. Although both belong to the monocot group of plants, they come from different families and are evolutionarily quite distant.

However, if we were to imagine a hypothetical “Hostiris,” it could feature large, broad hosta leaves adorned with blue-green hues or striking variegation. Rising above the lush foliage would be magnificent, fragrant iris blooms, delicately interwoven with the modest, soft-toned flowers of the hosta on the very same stem. This unusual combination of dramatic foliage and elegant blossoms would create a truly distinctive ornamental plant—one that gardeners would undoubtedly prize and admire.

Today, nearly all Larix kaempferi ‘Diana’ specimens cultivated worldwide are clones originating from the single mutated tree discovered at the Bruns nursery.

‘Diana’ was discovered at Bruns Pflanzen-Export in Germany, where workers noticed an unusual mutation in a Larix kaempferi seedling. One young tree began to grow branches in a distinctive corkscrew form as a result of a natural genetic mutation (a sport). Recognizing its ornamental value, the nursery preserved the mutation and propagated the plant by grafting scions onto standard larch rootstocks.

By the 1980s, the cultivar had become popular across Europe and later spread to Japan and the United States.

This is a flower bouquet.

We aim to expand the boundaries of what a bouquet can be, moving beyond the typical corporate-grown flowers arranged purely for visual pleasure.

Here, dried miscanthus stems create a structure that supports chains of glasses. The small brush-like branches serve as hooks for these items.
