💧 Waterless or wet cleaning for utility-scale solar plants? The answer depends on the site.

There is no single cleaning method that works best everywhere.

Our latest SolarCleano case study looks at how climate, soiling type, cleaning frequency and water availability should influence the choice between dry and wet cleaning.

One result stands out:
On a 100 MW ground-mounted solar plant, two SolarCleano B1A units operating autonomously on a weekly, waterless cleaning cycle helped restore inverter performance from around 70% on average to 99–100% across the site.

But waterless cleaning is not always the answer. 💧

The key takeaway: the right cleaning strategy should be adapted to local conditions, not based on a universal rule.

Choosing between dry, wet or hybrid cleaning means looking at the complete picture: performance, water consumption, operating frequency and long-term OPEX.

🚀 Some challenges don’t need an existing solution. They need a new one.

We’ve just launched our new Special Projects webpage, bringing together some of the most ambitious projects SolarCleano is involved in.

These projects reflect an important part of our DNA: engineering beyond standard solutions.

From tailor-made robots designed for unique solar installations to European research projects with major organisations such as the European Space Agency (ESA), every project starts with a challenge.

And when there is a challenge, there is an engineered solution. 🤖⚙️

One example is PLECO, our project with ESA, combining autonomous robotics, satellite technologies, inspection and data-driven maintenance for large-scale solar plants.

We think the new euro banknotes should look like this! 🤖💶

The European Central Bank recently invited the public to share their views on shortlisted designs for future euro banknotes.

Naturally, we decided to submit our own alternative… What do you think? 👀

🌎 SolarCleano is heading back to Latin America!

Our upcoming LATAM roadshow will take us across the continent for a series of meetings, demonstrations and industry exchanges:
17–18: Bolivia
20–21: Uruguay

Two important stops filled with meetings with key local actors to discuss solar O&M challenges and the growing role of robotic cleaning in the region.

We will then head to São Paulo for Intersolar South America, from 25 to 27, alongside our local partner Volluto at booth G3.83.

📍 Meet our team in Latin America and discover what is next for solar panel cleaning.

Some product demonstrations are full of action.
The SolarCleano B1A is not.

Why? Because once everything is set up, all our team has to do is press a button.

From there, the B1A takes over. Thanks to its fully autonomous operation, it intelligently follows the solar panel rows, adapts to changes in height and inclination, and carries out the cleaning without manual intervention.

Sometimes, the most impressive demonstration is the one where the operator has almost nothing left to do.

A successful webinar dedicated to the Oceania solar market 🌏

Last week, SolarCleano had the pleasure of hosting a free webinar focused on smarter solar maintenance across Australia and New Zealand.

With dozens of companies present and a highly engaged audience interacting with our speakers, this session confirmed two important things:

🚨 People are still very interested in learning more about the solar industry, its challenges and its opportunities. But it also showed that many topics linked to solar maintenance, field operations and performance optimisation still deserve more explanation.

This is exactly why we continue to organise webinars and seminars: to share knowledge, open discussions and help educate the market.

During this webinar, we had the chance to learn more about:
➡️ Soiling theory and a data-driven approach to measuring its impact on performance
➡️ Understanding utility-scale solar maintenance
➡️ Robotic cleaning in practice: improving flexibility, efficiency and field operations
➡️ Current field operations and their real challenges
➡️ Adapting solar maintenance strategies to New Zealand’s local conditions

A big thank you to all our speakers, Michael, John, Andrew, Kyle and Edwin, for their valuable presentations.

Thank you also to our hosts, Romain and Amanda, for coordinating and guiding the session.

If you missed the webinar, don’t worry: it is now available on our YouTube channel.
