အာခီတက် အလုပ်ခေါ်စာ။ ရန်ကုန်။

Architecture ကို သမားရိုးကျနည်းလမ်းတွေထက် ကျော်ပြီး အသစ်တွေ စမ်းသပ်ကြည့်ချင်တဲ့ Architect တစ်ယောက်ကို ရှာနေပါတယ်။

Blue Temple က ရန်ကုန် အခြေစိုက် Architecture Design Studio တစ်ခုဖြစ်ပြီး Computational Design၊ Bamboo Architecture နဲ့ အများပြည်သူ အကျိုးပြု လုပ်ငန်း Project တွေကို သုတေသန၊ ဒီဇိုင်း နဲ့ လက်တွေ့တည်ဆောက်မှုတွေ ပေါင်းစပ်ပြီး လုပ်ကိုင်နေပါတယ်။

Blue Temple ရဲ့ design process က university studio တစ်ခုလိုဖြစ်ပြီး လုပ်ငန်း work flow မှာ Sketch ဆွဲတာ၊ physical model လုပ်တာ၊ digital design စမ်းသပ်တာကနေ တကယ်တည်ဆောက်တဲ့အဆင့်အထိ ပါဝင်ပါတယ်။

We are excited to see this project moving from design into reality.

Housing NOW has officially started on-site work for the new 200 m² bamboo pre-school in Thanlyin , Yangon.

Our team is currently carrying out site clearing, land measurements, setting out, and excavation works, the first steps toward bringing this bamboo structure to life.

Developed in collaboration with Blue Temple, this project reflects our continued commitment to practical, low-carbon, and resilient bamboo construction for communities in Myanmar.

A long journey is ahead, and we look forward to sharing the construction process, challenges, and progress along the way.

Construction Starts on Bamboo School🏫

Blue Temple the organisation behind the 2026 World Habitat Award winning project 'Housing NOW' has started work on a 200m² pre-school in an informal settlement south of Yangon, Myanmar.

The structure, which uses a sequence of bamboo frames placed one after another along two edges of the site, is low cost and resilient to climate crisis disasters.

ဝါး ဆိုတာ အိမ်ဆောက်တဲ့ပစ္စည်းတစ်ခုတည်း မဟုတ်ဘဲ ဒေသခံတွေအတွက် အခွင့်အလမ်းတစ်ခုလည်း ဖြစ်နိုင်ပါတယ်[English below]

ရွှေမန္တလေးမြို့ရဲ့ အမရပူရမြို့နယ်မှာ ဒေသခံတွေနဲ့အတူ အခြေခံဝါးဆောက်လုပ်ရေးသင်တန်းလေး ပြုလုပ်ခဲ့ပါတယ်။

Bamboo is more than just a building material, it can also create opportunities for local communities.

We recently held a basic bamboo construction training with local people in Amarapura Township, the historic city of Mandalay.

During the training, we shared knowledge about the bamboo species commonly found and used for construction in Myanmar, as well as the many benefits and practical uses of bamboo. We also introduced Housing NOW’s low-cost bamboo housing projects and shared the Low-Cost Bamboo House Construction Manual with the participants.

The session continued with a hands on workshop where everyone had the chance to learn and practice basic bamboo construction techniques together. Seeing the participants actively engaged and eager to learn was truly encouraging.

We also emphasized that bamboo is not only a sustainable and environmentally friendly material, but it can also be a practical and affordable solution for communities to build their own homes.

မြန်မာနိုင်ငံမှ Housing NOW ကို ကမ္ဘာ့ စင်မြင့်ပေါ်တွင် ကိုယ်စားပြုခြင်း [English below]

အဇာဘိုင်ဂျန်နိုင်ငံ ဘာကူးမြို့တွင် ကျင်းပခဲ့သော World Urban Forum 13 တွင် Housing NOW ကို ကိုယ်စားပြုနိုင်ခြင်းသည် ကျွန်တော်တို့အတွက် ဂုဏ်ယူစရာ အခိုက်အတန့်တစ်ခု ဖြစ်ခဲ့ပါတယ်။

Representing Housing NOW from Myanmar on the global stage

Representing Housing NOW at the Thirteenth Session of the World Urban Forum, held in Baku, Azerbaijan, was a proud moment for us.

At the WUF13 Business and Innovation Hub, we presented three bamboo-based approaches currently being developed and applied in Myanmar: prefabricated bundled bamboo frame systems, community-led reconstruction, and a practical bamboo maintenance and construction manual. Through these three approaches, we also shared how they can realistically support the construction of homes, clinics, schools, playgrounds, and other essential community spaces.

We had the opportunity to meet people from many different countries, exchange ideas, and see a strong interest in bamboo as a sustainable construction material.

Housing NOW is working in Myanmar and remains open to connecting with the world.

🌿These photos were taken at our workshop, where we are currently processing bamboo with preservation treatments. This season is the ideal time for cutting bamboo because the sugar content inside is at its lowest. Harvesting during this period greatly reduces the chance of insect infestation. After going through our systematic treatment process, we are able to produce high-quality, long-lasting bamboo that is resistant to insects.

🌿For the Housing NOW team, this is one of the busiest times of the year.
We have to carefully manage the entire annual cycle: cutting the bamboo, washing and cleaning it, applying treatments to prevent insect damage, drying the bamboo, measuring internal moisture content, grading by size, thickness, and age, and finally storing it properly.

🌿In bamboo construction, maintaining quality at every stage is essential — and this first stage is the foundation. If not done properly, it can create many challenges and complications later when the bamboo is used in construction projects.

🌿From harvesting the bamboo all the way to the successful completion of a construction project, the Housing NOW team is committed to ensuring quality results at every single step.

🌳 Ongoing demolition work and site inspection for the project starting this December.

🌳 In Hlaing Tharyar Township, Yangon, Housing NOW will begin construction this coming December on a clinic built with a combination of bamboo, timber, brick, and concrete.

🌳 This clinic primarily provides free healthcare services and free counselling to patients with malaria, TB, and HIV, and it will continue to serve thousands of patients every year with essential medical care.
