We are saddened to share the passing of our former colleague, Kristine - a great mind and a deeply valued individual.

Rest in Peace, Kris - you will be missed 🤍

It is with great sadness that we share the news of the untimely passing of Perit Kristine Pace.

Kristine graduated with distinction from the MArch (Architectural Design) in 2016, completed an MSc in Design Research at the Bauhaus, and was pursuing PhD research at ETH Zurich in the Doctor of Science programme. Over the years, she contributed to the Faculty as a guest speaker, lecturer, and design workshop tutor. In October, she joined the Architecture and Urban Design Department as a Visiting Lecturer.

An incredibly intelligent and talented person, Kristine was a dedicated and enthusiastic lecturer, as well as a kind and inspiring individual. She will be deeply missed.

Her family will be celebrating Kristine’s life on Saturday, 1st February, at 9am at Manikata Church. They have requested no dress code, encouraging attendees to wear whatever makes them feel the beauty of life.

One for the weekend - today we presented Salvo Grima Group with a commemorative brass plaque to be affixed to their new offices in Marsa in recognition for winning the Interior Architecture Award for Commercial Buildings at this year's .

The interior design of this impressive project was carried out by box concept studio & VINCI Architects

Up next - today we presented Denise Xuereb a director at AX Group with a commemorative brass plaque to be affixed to the AX ODYCY Hotel in Qawra in recognition for winning the Interior Architecture Award for Hospitality and Tourism projects at this year's .

The transformation of this complex and large-scale space was thought-out and executed by box concept studio in collaboration with interior designers Simon Abela & Sara Brincat

Honoured to be declared winners of the MASP "Interior Architecture Award for Hospitality and Tourism Projects"! We owe immense thanks to our outstanding collaborators: Sara Brincat and Simon Abela, whose insights and knowledge were invaluable; Franck Franjou, the lighting designer who brought magic to the space; and Archi+ for their effective project management. Our gratitude goes to AX Hotels for their trust and partnership through every step of the project. Most of all, we feel deeply indebted and grateful for our exceptional design team - Isaac Buttigieg, John Bajada, Miguel Petrovic, and Judy Hunter - and to Jovanovic who worked with us on the project - your positive energy, passion and tireless work made this achievement possible!

Box Concept Studio is a Malta-based architecture and design firm focused on innovation, process and dialogue. Its core thought processes revolve around understanding, through research, and the search for meaning in architecture. Its workshop comprises a vibrant collaborative of architects and creatives whose design rationale puts the qualities of the project and the requirements of the client at its centre.

Box Concept seeks new understandings through dialogue - a workshop that is open to engage with clients, creatives, academics, and current students alike, in an attempt to identify new perspectives. The team is actively involved within the UoM Faculty for the Built Environment as visiting lecturers in both B.Sc. and Masters programmes. This injects the studio with fresh, vibrant and contemporary energy that parallels a deep rooted passion for technical know-how and good practice.

Box Concept is a creative workshop of ideas that evolve in process and continuity - a workshop that strives in recognizing the conceptual and physical tools that permeate its architecture and allow its innovation. The team partakes in small and large scale projects alike, striving to achieve quality, maximizing its potentials for knowledge in proportion, detail, material, scale, sustainability and experiential design. The result of all this is an architecture in open dialogue with the client, environment and context.
