Mizzi Studio Award-winning design studio based in London and Valletta, specialising in Biomodernism and Biophilic

Mizzi Studio is a multidisciplinary practice specialising in Bioarchitecture and Biophilic design, dedicated to making the world a better place through inventive, climate-responsive design solutions. Powered by optimism, driven by context, inspired by nature and science, and brought to life through ecologically friendly construction; our mission is to reconnect humanity with the natural world thro

ugh the universal properties and values Bioarchitecture and design possess. Our projects embrace experimentation and see adaptability as a means of mapping out an exciting, resilient, sustainable future. Their purpose is to re-foster a sense of community between mankind and everything that makes up its first home – the natural environment. We fuse tradition with technology and physical craft to create spaces, buildings, transport and infrastructure that bring warmth, colour, joy and hope to the world, uplifting the spirit whilst living in harmony with nature. As architects and designers, we believe that now more than ever, we have a critical role to play within society as planetary stewards. It is our pledge to Mother Nature to treat planet Earth as our primary client. Our other clients include The Royal Botanical Gardens, Kew, The Royal Parks and The Science Museum. We believe in the experiential power of architecture and design. Whether it be for respite, care, mobility or education, we look to inspire people to live environmentally socially responsible lives with a determined and positive spirit, fulfilling our time on earth with meaning and leaving it in a better place for the collective progress and prosperity of humanity and planet earth

The further we move from source, the harder it becomes to care.

Belonging lives in that relationship, in the materials we touch, the craft of our hands, and the meaning we shape together with the living world.

When modernity pulls us away from source, life begins to harden into one pattern.

One way of building.
One way of mind.
One way of moving.
One way of living.

To gravitate back to belonging, we return to what we all share. Nature, and the creativity to heal our relationship with it.

For , that return is shaped through architecture that is conscious of context, sensitive to place, and rooted in materials chosen with care. Spaces and buildings that reconnect people with the natural world through education, emotion and play.

Excerpt from Jonathan Mizzi’s talk at the Culture at Work Unconference, hosted at .

Our growing understanding of Blue Lagoon and Comino’s landscape extends beyond the terrestrial, into its coastline, its seabed and the waters that surround it.

On , , and reflect on our close collaboration. Through Project Icarus, their work using drones and AI to map Malta’s coastline is detecting debris and building toward the ability to model and predict marine waste both underwater and along the shore. Alongside their continued efforts to clean up our coastlines and seas, this feeds directly into a wider and more sensitive understanding of the place and how it must be approached with the utmost care.

“This is a conversation. This is sharing of experiences, taking these different experiences from people and trying to integrate them to a common vision.”

Open conversations with environmental NGOs are where we listen, learn and look more closely at the places we work within. Each conversation feeds into a wider understanding of place, informing how sensitively and thoughtfully we approach the Blue Lagoon rehabilitation.

Belonging begins with source.

Ahead of .jonathan and ’s talk with at 2026, we continue our journey into belonging: to place, to material, and to the living world that first shaped culture, craft and care.

For our ancestors, nature was not separate from life. It was all around them.

As this reflection continues, we move from source into what happens when that connection is broken, and what might bring us back together.

Join us on Tuesday 9 June at , where the conversation continues through the Carbon Garden Pavilion.

At its heart, the Carbon Garden is about , reconnecting people with the natural systems that sustain us.

The Carbon Garden was created to make one of the most important yet invisible stories of our time tangible and accessible: the role carbon plays in our lives and the role nature plays in capturing and storing it.

As the Carbon Garden approaches its first anniversary, it has been a joy to see how the space sparks curiosity among visitors of all ages.

Rather than relying on traditional forms of education, the Carbon Garden invites people to learn through experience.

On 9 June, as part of the London Festival of Architecture, join Jonathan Mizzi, Matthew Chilton and members of the Mizzi Studio team at Kew Gardens as we share the story behind the project, together with a fire side chat with Peter Murray

While all complimentary tickets are now sold out, if you'd still like to join us, please DM Mizzi Studio

As Spring gives way to Summer, there is no better time to experience the garden in full bloom.

Celebrating a year since we opened The Living Bridge Co-Learning Centre to the community at Green School Bali.

For us at Mizzi Studio, it has been lovely seeing space grow into the landscape of the school and watching the life it breathes through talks, gatherings and the simple happenstance meetings it was always imagined to hold.

Co-designed and built alongside students, parents and teachers, The Living Bridge has been a very unique and special project for us. Rooted in shared authorship, local craft, regenerative materials and intergenerational learning, it stands as a home and hub where people come to learn, connect and share their learning with others.

Thank you to everyone who has helped bring life to The Living Bridge over the past year. We cannot wait to see what lies ahead.

Belonging.

This year, the London Festival of Architecture explores what it means to belong: to our cities, our communities and the spaces we share.

Ahead of Jonathan Mizzi's talk at London Festival of Architecture 2026, here is a glimpse into the thinking behind the Carbon Garden Pavilion at Kew Gardens: a project shaped by ecology, local craft, material intelligence, and the belief that architecture can help reconnect people with the living world around them.

For Mizzi Studio, belonging begins with remembering that we are part of nature, not separate from it.

Join us on 9 June at Kew Gardens for London Festival of Architecture 2026.

Gridlock is not just traffic.
It’s a signal.
jonathan gave a keynote for ’s annual forum, sharing five reflections on what congestion reveals about life on a finite island and why no single solution is ever enough.

Unveiled as an extension of the Regenerative Multimodal Transport System, the University Cycle Hub is a key node within a wider, integrated mobility system designed to be tested, improved, and built for real-world impact.

With over 14 years of research behind it, this work continues to evolve.
