Assalamualaikum and good afternoon everyone.
As everyone knows, Malaysia has been the hub of the solar industry for years due to its geographical advantages and because it receives ample sunlight for 4 to 6 hours.
As a result, solar power companies have emerged to offer a wide range of solar power systems to Malaysians.
Here are several types of solar systems in Malaysia :-
1) Grid Connected Solar with Energy Storage
The first type of solar system in Malaysia is also known as hybrid solar. This is rapidly becoming one of the most preferred energy systems despite its rising costs.
Why is it popular? One of the reasons why is because it comes with an energy storage system which mostly is in the form of a battery.
Another advantage of this system is that it saves money for consumers. This is because if there is energy stored in the battery, it will use it instead of the power of the grid.
However, one drawback of this system is it costs more. This is because you will have to change the batteries frequently to avoid it being worn out.
Due to its complexity, this system will also require expertise from top-end companies to install and design it. This can offer a problem for those who want this particular type of solar system.
2) Direct Current Solar Systems
This type of solar system is quite different because it does not usually power a whole house. It provides electricity to DC appliances or a battery bank or both.
This can be considered the most basic type of solar system as it is designed to be only used when the sun shines.
One of its advantages is that it is highly efficient. This is because it only uses one conversion which is Direct Current which makes it more effective.
It is also easy to install and to coordinate as it uses one power inverter. It makes it easier to coordinate functions which may differ in certain places.
This type of solar system also directs more energy into the battery. This is because the inverter capacity does not restrict the amount of energy flow.
But there are some cons to this system with one being its high cost. Consumers who are interested in this type of solar panel will need to put aside a significant sum of money.
Moreover, a solid source of sunlight is also needed with this type of panel. This is because the DC system is intended to be used only when the sun shines.
3) Grid-Connected System
This is the most commonly used system. It connects to your home and the local grid. It can divert any extra energy back to the grid.
It does not use much equipment compared to the other types of systems.
One of the reasons this system is very good is because it does not require a lot of maintenance. The operating costs are very low.
Speaking about costs, this type of system is also attractive due to its low price compared to the other types. This is because it uses less equipment.
There is however one big disadvantage which is that consumers will not be able to use the energy that the panels produce when the sun is down.
4) Off-Grid Residential Solar Panel System
This is another type of solar system in Malaysia. It is also very similar to the first type of solar system which is the grid-connected solar with energy storage.
This type of system is usually in rural areas where its important electricity is expensive. This system is not connected to the local electricity grid which can be seen in the name.
One of the best things about this is that the electricity you are using is all yours. You will not pay the utility company and is also safe from any shortage of electricity.
Despite this, this system is expensive at first as youβll have to invest in equipment to ensure your house has electricity when the sun is down.
You will also have to conserve energy to ensure that you have enough to use.
What do you think about above explanation? Did you get something from it?
