FANA • The Courtyard House

‎فناء (pronounced: fanā’)
‘It refers to an open space or yard within or surrounded by a building, which fits well with architectural use’

The spaces are organized around an open courtyard that brings natural light, airflow, and greenery into the heart of the home. The layout allows all main spaces to connect visually to this private outdoor area, creating a calm and airy living environment.

As the client’s request for a tropical look, the architect creates a subtle transition between tropical, colonial, and modern design. Warm brick walls, simple forms, arches, and large openings give a timeless character, while a low, wide roof and covered areas provide shade and comfort.

V - House is a low-impact home designed on a gentle slope site, using a V-shaped layout on stilts to follow the natural topography. The design aims to avoids retaining walls and major earthwork, keeping the building footprint small to allow for much greenery.
