Another proud milestone for DMZ International Design Group.

We are honoured that Mil Toast House at The Exchange TRX has received the 2026 Silver Prize for Dining Space at the IDPA Japan Design Awards.

Inspired by the softness and movement of clouds, the design transforms a contemporary café into a calm retreat within the city. Flowing ceiling forms, warm lighting and carefully balanced proportions create an atmosphere of lightness and tranquillity.

Behind this poetic expression is a precise design process. Parametric technology and CNC fabrication shaped the complex ceiling geometry, while renewable bamboo veneer, recycled PET acoustic felt and durable terrazzo support our commitment to responsible design.

This award belongs to our dedicated team, client, consultants and project partners who brought the vision to life.

A supermarket can be more than a place to shop. It can become a journey.

At AEON Station 18 in Ipoh, DMZ transformed approximately 2,000 square metres into an integrated supermarket, food hall, wine and liquor retail experience inspired by the logic and cultural memory of railway stations.

Circulation unfolds as a continuous route, with distinctive retail zones conceived as platforms. Curved pathways reference railway tracks, suspended signage recalls transit architecture, and burnt red accents evoke the character of vintage locomotives.

The result balances storytelling with the practical demands of high volume retail, clear navigation and operational efficiency.

Recently recognised with the 2026 IDPA Japan Pioneer Prize for Commercial Space, the project demonstrates how local context can be translated into a contemporary and memorable customer experience.

It was a joyful and unforgettable celebration, even with the slightly warmer Italian summer this year.
