Hon Architecture approach for this high-density residential development in Old Klang Road emphasizes a sensitive response to its urban context, especially given its proximity to busy flyovers and major roads in Kuala Lumpur’s old town. The tower massing is designed to address both functional and aesthetic considerations, creating a landmark gateway that enhances the streetscape and urban identity.

Key architectural strategies include:
1. Dual-Faced Facade: The tower’s facade responds to both the main street (Old Klang Road) and the surrounding traffic corridors. This involves a complementary design—perhaps with more transparent, inviting elements facing the street to create a welcoming approach, and more resilient, noise-mitigating features facing the flyover and busy roads.

2. Gateways and Entrance: The tower is designed to serve as an entrance gateway to Old Klang Road, with prominent form articulation, signage, and landscaping that reinforce its role as a visual and functional landmark.

3. Urban and Sky Recreational Spaces: The ground level offers landscaped, accessible urban recreational zones that foster community interaction and improve street vitality. In the sky, private recreational areas such as sky gardens, rooftop terraces, and amenities provide residents with tranquil retreats, elevated above the urban hustle.

This approach achieves a harmonious balance between urban vitality, resident privacy, and environmental responsiveness, enriching Kuala Lumpur’s historic and strategic areas.

Recent Project: TGV Indulge Lounge at Suria KLCC

A Fusion of Tradition, Flexibility and Contemporary Design

Hon Architecture is proud to announce the completion of the new TGV Indulge Lounge at Suria KLCC. Commissioned in mid-2024, the project transforms a 2,000-square-foot interior into a sophisticated yet flexible lounge space designed to elevate the cinematic experience at one of Malaysia’s most iconic retail destinations. Located adjacent to TGV’s premium cinema halls, the Indulge Lounge is envisioned as a multifunctional hospitality space—a refined setting for pre-show relaxation, private events, and media gatherings.

“This project is a dialogue between modernity and tradition, soft and hard, curve and line,” said the founder, Chee Hon Kong, at Hon Architecture. “We wanted to challenge the rigid orthogonal layout of the existing space by introducing curvilinear forms that invite movement, soften perception, and evoke a sense of crafted elegance.” The interplay between traditional materials and modern finishes, and between fluid geometry and structural formality, results in a space that is not only visually compelling but also highly versatile. The lounge can be easily reconfigured for various event formats without compromising its design integrity or comfort.

Hon Architecture’s work at Suria KLCC reflects a broader commitment to contextual, responsive, and forward-thinking design—celebrating local identity while embracing global sensibilities.

Dialogue with the Nature
A mixed-use development proposal by HON Architecture to regenerate the old quarter of Cheras in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The undulating terraces and sinuous canopy design accommodate two levels of commercial retails facing the main pedestrian street. The sleek gesture and curvilinear design language attempt to create a dialogue with the nature yet making a paradox statement with the surrounding urban fabric.
