Earth Hour, organised by WWF, began in 2007, in Sydney, Australia, as an attempt to conserve energy, to bring awareness that the climate is changing and that we need to be part of the solution. Earth Hour touched our hearts and minds as it swept around the world, leaving in its wake a range of awareness creating events, including candlelight vigils for the Earth and us, rock concerts, as well as activity packs for schools. But most dramatically as the Earth rotates, darkness follows, as the lights go off in countries and cities around the globe for one hour from 8.30pm to 9.30pm.
In 2012, citizens of 135 countries turned off their lights and / or participated in other events to show they care about our home, the Earth.
Lets turn off our lights for one hour on Saturday, March 23, from 8.30pm to 9.30pm,to bring awareness that the climate is changing.
There is much we can do, and the choice is yours. Go beyond Earth Hour – live sustainably.
