Melamine is a type of laminate, yet not all laminates are made from melamine. When melamine laminates are made, they’re created by molding a melamine/formaldehyde combination into a durable plastic sheet done by applying a certain amount of pressure-per-square-inch to the laminate. The amount of pressure applied changes the classification of the laminate. Melamine is a low-pressure laminate (LPL) because it is made with a pressure of 300-500 pounds-per-square-inch. High-pressure laminate (HPL), also called Formica, is made with over 1400 pounds-per-square-inch of pressure.
So, initially an organic compound, melamine resin is formed through polymerization as a hard and durable plastic material. The melamine sheet can then be applied to particleboard, plywood, or medium density fiberboard (MDF) forming a melamine board. It can be found in a variety of colors, patterns, sizes, and thicknesses.

When considering whether or not melamine board is a good option, you of course want to know the advantages. Melamine has several:

Plywood is widely used as a building material and has many useful properties. It has multi-dimensional usage. Plywood is an engineered wood product that is made from gluing more that one sheet of wood. You might have used plywood while constructing your home; however, there are many interesting facts about plywood that you might not be aware of. Here we have provided a list of interesting facts about plywood for you:

1. Plywood has inner and outer layers. Each of these layer are 3 millimeters thick. Since its is made with multiple layers, plywood are extremely durable and also, light weight.

2. The interior layer of the plywood is usually made of cheaper wood while that outer layers are made of using strong wood. The multiple layers of plywood are compressed using strong heat. To protect it from twisting and warping, the plywood board is rotated in 90 degrees.

3. Plywood is a durable alternative for solid wood. If you do not want to invest a lot of cash in buying solid wood, you can go for plywood. Its multiple design gives it a rustic appearance.

4. Plywood has multiple usage. You can use it for creating cabinets, flooring, paneling, modular kitchen, desk, table,beds,and other furniture.

5. You can pick from two different variety of plywood- hardwood and softwood. Hardwood is mainly made of woods such as maple, mahogany, oak, or birch. On the other hand, softwood ply is made of woods such as spruce or pine.

6. Plywoods are specially treated to endure regular wear and tear. They are treated for being resistant to water, fire, insulation, and any other impact.

7. Plywood comes in multiple grades. These grades are determined by the strength, defects, moisture resistance, discolouration and other properties of the plywood. These grades are- N, A, B,C and D. The D grade plywood has a few surface defects, while the N grade has minimal surface defects.

8. The types of plywood include External plywood, structural plywood, internal plywood, and marine plywood.

MDF (Medium Density Fibreboard) is an engineered material made by breaking down hardwood or softwood residuals into fine particles, combining them with wax and a resin binder, and applying high temperature and pressure. It’s actually made up of recycled wood that is not harmful for our environment.

And here are some Intresting Fact about MDF :

• MDF saves trees as it is a recycling process
• MDF does not have knots or kinks which disturbs the smooth surface
• MDF is resistant to some insects as some chemicals are used for the processing of MDF
• It’s great for painting since the boards are perfectly smooth
• MDF is very consistent throughout, so cut edges appear smooth and you can use a router to get decorative edges
• MDF is less expensive than solid wood and plywood
• MDF is used in so many spaces in our homes. You can find it in cabinets, furniture, molding/trim work, door parts, and store fixtures
• MDF is hard to both flex or crack
• The consistency and smoothness of MDF allow for easy cutting of detailed designs (such as scrolled or scalloped designs) using a scroll saw, band saw, or jigsaw.
• MDF is widely used as a material for both interior and exterior doors
• Unlike solid wood, MDF will remain strong in areas where there is high humidity and moisture
