These items on my desk today remind me why I love architecture. It’s a good feeling to realise that this profession has given me tremendous satisfaction. If I didn’t love what I do, I would have probably been a Chef or a bass guitarist in some acoustic band somewhere …

Many years back. A proposal for Taman Tasik Perdana - our own version.
Keep the land profile; work with the existing contours; minimise traffic circulation and design it naturally - with focal entity - without much physical intervention. We were’nt good enough but we had fun. 😊

ATCC
Many years back, we participated in a design and build exercise for a new Air Traffic Control Centre in KLIA. Needless to say, we weren’t successful.
These were the two preliminary initial shots of our proposal which were stored in my desktop and somehow forgotten. It could have been one amazing, iconic ‘paper plane’ building annexed to the control tower had we been given the nod.
As always, we had fun entertaining our ideals. 😊

A competition entry for a building in Kuching. Needless to say, we were just one of the many entries. Nevertheless, we enjoyed the participation.

ARCHITECTURAL GRADUATES
I am overwhelmed with the applications that have been submitted for the architectural graduate positions we’ve advertised recently.
We’ve seived through all applications and have made our final selection. For your information, the positions are now filled.
Our appreciation to all who have submitted their CVs and portfolios; we’ve officially taken two graduates to be nurtured, trained and guided for their continuing career in architecture with our small firm.
We trust that they’ve made the right decisions in accepting our offer.
Thank you.

A ‘White Building’ - fashionably affordable in a self contained environment.

Sketches, doodles and notes. They serve to remind Architects of the simple pleasures in life and career. 😊

This is the kind of ‘mass’ (density) that developers pursue and Architects happily or reluctantly do for whatever it’s worth. I guess on paper the numbers are simply staggering!
You see, there is definitely a balance that needs to be achieved. Land potential doesn’t necessarily have to be maximised for anticipated profits. Besides, given current circumstances, it’s no longer fashionable to showcase your worth. Figures - you can make them lie as well. 😔

A multipurpose ‘shell’ in a clearing. A studio of sorts; it’s a niche, congregational space. It can be anything. 😊

A desire to publish takes me here at this point in time. A quick shot at self assessment over this relatively uncertain period where we are today.
We’ve been around since 1994, a decent enough time span to have a small body of work that we can proudly call our own. We’re a small firm with a great and dedicated group of personnels who continue to devote time and skills to be with us through good and tough times in our pursuit of good architecture.
Our work, then and in the future, remains to be judged by those who call it their workplace or residence or venues from which they, in turn, serve their own purposes and others. Whilst we continue to explore architecture in our practice, we make no attempt to ‘over emphasise’ ourselves and the things we do and are good at in the hope that our work will eventually speak for itself. The wisdom of those with whom we work will also guide us as in the course of our practice.
Where do we go from here? Now that is a question that I have never attempted to define, nor answer and certainly not second guess.
