So lucky! I happened to catch the feeding time at Taiping Zoo early in the morning, and even managed to capture pairs of animals together. Most of the time, you would only see one by itself, so moments like this are truly rare and special.

早在61年前，这座儿童游乐场是由驻扎在太平的纽西兰军人协助兴建，只为了给当年的孩子们一个充满欢笑与回忆的游乐天地。
直到2019年，两位曾亲手参与建设的纽西兰老兵，再次回到太平湖，重游这片熟悉的地方。看着眼前依然存在的游乐场，也仿佛让他们重新回到了那段青春岁月。
一个看似普通的游乐场，不只是孩子们嬉戏玩乐的空间，更承载着太平早年的社区记忆，以及一段跨越国界、历经半世纪依然温暖的人情与友谊。❤️

Did you know that the playground slide at Taiping Lake Gardens actually carries a little-known piece of history?
About 61 years ago, this children’s playground was built with the help of New Zealand soldiers stationed in Taiping, simply to create a joyful place for the children of that era.
In 2019, two New Zealand veterans who had personally helped build the playground returned to Taiping Lake Gardens once again. Standing before the playground that still remains today, it was as if they were brought back to their youthful days and cherished memories.
What may seem like an ordinary playground is actually more than just a place for children to play — it holds the memories of Taiping’s early community life, as well as a heartfelt friendship that has crossed borders and lasted for more than half a century. ❤️

长大以后，时间变得很满，心却有时候变得很空。我们开始习惯忙碌，习惯把“以后再说”挂在嘴边，也慢慢把那些简单的快乐收进记忆里。
你问怀不怀念童年，其实答案大多是——怀念的。
不是因为那时候什么都拥有，而是因为那时候，连一点点快乐都能被放大。
也许我们回不去，但有时候可以试着“走回去一点点”：
去一个有风的地方发呆，去看水流、看天空，甚至只是放下手机一会儿。
你最近，是不是有点累了？

When we were kids, happiness was simple. A slide could keep us entertained for an entire afternoon. The little fish in the stream felt like hidden treasures, and even a shaky wooden bridge could turn into an “adventure.” Back then, we didn’t need reasons, didn’t make plans, and didn’t worry about the outcome.
As we grow older, our schedules become full, but sometimes our hearts feel a little empty. We get used to being busy, used to saying “maybe later,” and slowly tuck those simple joys away into our memories.
If you ask whether we miss childhood, the answer is usually yes.
Not because we had everything, but because even the smallest happiness felt so big.
Maybe we can’t go back, but sometimes we can try to “walk back a little”: go somewhere with a breeze and just zone out, watch the water flow, look at the sky, or simply put down your phone for a while.

太平 New Club 成立于1885年，是马来西亚最早期的俱乐部之一。它见证了太平从锡矿重镇走向历史名城的变迁，也曾是殖民时期精英社交与体育活动的重要中心。其最早的会址，坐落于太平山脚瀑布岩壁旁，依山傍水，承载着岁月沉淀的历史韵味与自然之美。
如今，这片遗址虽已荒废多年，仍依稀可见旧日泳池的轮廓与建筑的残痕，仿佛在静静诉说往昔的繁华。这样的地方，年轻一代又是否曾经踏足、了解它的故事呢？

The Taiping New Club, established in 1885, is among the earliest clubs in Malaysia. It witnessed Taiping’s transformation from a thriving tin-mining town into a historic city, and once served as a key social and sporting hub for the colonial elite. Its original site was located at the foot of Taiping Hill, beside a waterfall rock face—nestled in nature and rich with historical charm.
Today, the long-abandoned site still reveals faint traces of its past, with the outline of the old swimming pool and remnants of its structures quietly telling stories of former glory. One can’t help but wonder—have the younger generation ever visited and come to know its story?

今早，太平钟楼翻新后正式推介，由太平古迹协会展示全新面貌，并同步介绍“太平和平步道”。
翻新以可持续理念为核心，内部采用木材与再生材料，结合历史照片、文化内容及步道资讯，让大众更深入认识太平的自然与历史。看到馆内的市区模型，也让人惊叹原来市中心规划如此整齐有序。
该项目由太平古迹协会联合马来西亚可持续旅游组织推动，并获财政部支持，推介礼吸引众多官员与业界出席，气氛热烈。

This morning, the newly refurbished Taiping Clock Tower was officially launched, showcasing its refreshed look by the Taiping Heritage Society, alongside the introduction of the “Taiping Peace Trail.”
The refurbishment was guided by a sustainability concept, with the interior featuring wood and recycled materials, complemented by historical photos, cultural displays, and trail information. It offers visitors and locals a deeper understanding of Taiping’s natural and historical heritage. The city scale model on display was particularly eye-opening, revealing just how orderly and well-planned the town center is.
The project was jointly driven by the Taiping Heritage Society and the Malaysia Sustainable Tourism organization, with support from the Ministry of Finance. The launch event drew strong attendance from government officials, elected representatives, and industry players, creating a vibrant atmosphere.
