Another once Beautiful Lawn area destroyed by the drought experienced in Namibia a few years ago. Lawns provide entertainment spaces as well as look beautiful.

This does not mean that when a lawn falls victim to water shortage the area looses its purpose. There are countless substitutions you can make to still enjoy your Garden.

Last Year we planted this area with Lawn, opting to plant little plugs instead of installing roll on lawn.

This way requires a little bit more patience and love but the end result is most certainly no less impressive.

The drought took it's toll on many gardens and plants in Namibia.
This doesn't mean one needs to write it off entirely... small changes and a bit of love and care can make a very big impact.

Spring time is the perfect time to plant new additions to your garden. Be it Trees, Schrubs, flower, Succulents or anything else you might desire.

Here are some simple steps to planting a tree :
1. First and foremost pick the right spot for it, some trees might have aggressive root systems so we don't want to plant them too close to a structure, or it might grow to be 8m tall so make sure there are no overhead obstructions.
2. Dig a hole approximately 1.5 times as wide as the bag the tree comes in and approximately 2 times as deep.
3. The soil that's been removed needs to be mixed with appropriate nutrients before installing, a general rule of thumb to go by is a generous serving of Compost as well as a good helping of natural all purpose fertilizer, this gives it all the nutrients it needs to survive a transplanting, you can also add SPUPERPHOSPHATE to assist in root strengthening.
4. Now the soil is mixed one needs to refill the soil to the exact depth of the original bag the ree came in and be sure to compact the soil as you refill the hole.
5. Next we remove the tree from its bag (being careful to keep as much of the root ball and soil intact), and place it in the hole in its correct position.
6. Begin refilling around the tree always making sure to compact the soil as the hole is being refilled.
7. Almost done now, the hole is filled up and all you need to do is clean up and neaten the area you just worked in.
8. Finally you can give the tree a very healthy serving of water, every second day for the first 2 weeks.
