NEW PROJECT: Kerry McNamara Architects recently completed the new award winning SHANGRI-LA PANGOLIN HOUSE in the South West of Namibia.
Nestled on a mountain side lower saddle, the site was chosen for its stunning views towards the west Sossusvlei dunes.
A natural stone walled house with floating roofs over high level glass skylights and a structure that floats over the landscape as much as possible.
We nestled the main house onto the platform with a cantilever west deck – reaching over the rock ridge to offer the experience of leaning over the rock edge looking at the western dunes and sunset. The north bedroom was situated into the saddle of the rock outcrops creating a beautiful private scenario of resting in the boulders looking north.
The house has these floating shale roofs and natural colours, with extensive local stonework to blend seamlessly into the landscape.
The house is off grid with its own solar plant, bore hole water with all lights down facing as not to cause any nighttime light pollution in this vast serine landscape.
Thank you to the incredible client, consultant and building team that made this unique project possible.
