RESIDENTS COMMEND GOVERNOR ABIODUN OVER TIMELY ROAD INTERVENTIONS

Residents, traders and road users across Ogun Central Senatorial District have expressed appreciation to Governor Dapo Abiodun for what they described as a timely and impactful intervention in road maintenance across key corridors in the area.

The ongoing maintenance works, which cut across major commercial and residential routes, are easing traffic congestion, improving safety and boosting economic activities within Abeokuta and its environs.

According to the Special Adviser on Public Works, Engr. Babatunde Adesina said the road construction drive was part of the Ogun State infrastructure renewal agenda aimed at enhancing connectivity, stimulating economic growth and improving the quality of life for residents across the State.

Engr Adesina said the maintenance works were designed to address failed sections, improve drainage and extend the lifespan of existing roads, nothing that the governor is committed to ensuring that our roads remain motorable at all times.

Speaking with journalists, a commercial motorist , Mr. Bode Akindele, described the MTD/ Isale Ijeun projects as a relief to years of hardship caused by bad roads. “This intervention came at the right time. Our vehicles used to break down regularly, but now movement is smoother and safer,” he said.

OGUN BEGINS NEW PHASE OF ROAD MAINTENANCE AHEAD OF YULETIDE SEASON
Ogun State Government has commenced a new phase of road maintenance across the State as part of preparations for the Yuletide season.
The initiative, coordinated by the Ogun State Public Works Agency (OGPWA), seeks to improve road conditions, ease traffic flow, and enhance safety for residents, commuters and tourists.
Speaking on the renewed intervention, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Public Works, Engr. Babatunde Adesina, reiterated that the intervention was part of a continuous road improvement programme aimed at boosting economic activities and ensuring safer mobility across the State.
Engr. Adesina said the State was committed to ensuring that major and inner roads remained motorable throughout and after the festive period.
“We understand that the Yuletide season comes with increased movement and it is our responsibility to ensure that the roads are safe and accessible. This new phase of maintenance demonstrates the Government’s commitment to providing reliable infrastructure for the people of Ogun State, he said.”
He explained that the ongoing repairs would focus on high-traffic corridors, link roads and critical routes connecting major communities, adding that the agency had already deployed multiple teams across the three senatorial districts to ensure timely completion.
“Our teams are on the field carrying out pothole patching and other essential repairs. We want residents and travellers to experience smoother movement as they go about their activities during this festive period.”
Engr. Adesina encouraged the general public to support the agency by reporting areas requiring urgent attention, as community feedback would always play key roles in the agency’s rapid-response efforts.

*Ogun Govt Set to Begin Statewide Road Maintenance*

The Ogun State Government says it will begin road maintenance works across the state.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Public Works, Engr. Babatunde Adesina, disclosed this during an inspection tour of the Leme–Abiola Way–Madojutimi roads in Abeokuta

He explained that the project underscores the administration’s commitment to enhancing infrastructure and ensuring safer, smoother mobility for residents.

He added that the move was part of efforts to address the deplorable condition of some major roads and to ease the burden of commuters.

"This exercise reflects the government’s commitment to making life easier for residents and supporting local businesses through better road network. The prince Dapo Abiodun's administration economic government is committed to improving road networks in both urban and rural communities to boost economic activities" he said

Today, The Special Adviser to the Governor and General Manager, Ogun State Public Works Agency, Engr. Akeem Babatunde Adesina received in audience Executives of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Ogun State Chapter led by the Association's Chairman, Comrade Hammer Ademola Benco to present the Most Distinguished Labour Support Award to our own dear SA/GM.

Engr. Adesina retirerated the commitment of the present administration led by Prince Dapo Abiodun towards Workers' Welfare by paying outstanding debts inherited from the the last administration.

He also pledged the Agency's desire to support the labour activities and Programs for the total benefit of Ogun State Workforce, noting that without the Support of members of Management and entire staff, the award won't have been possible.

In his remarks, the NLC Chairman, Com. Benco appreciated the Gov Dapo Abiodun led administration for various Workers' Friendly interventions programs like Peculiar Allowance, leave bonuses, completion of Labour Secretariat among other.

OGUN GOVT. EXPRESSES READINESS TO COMPLETE ONGOING ROAD PROJECTS

Ogun State Government has assured residents of Kemta Olokuta-Wole Soyinka Rail Station, Ewang Exit/Iyana Tekobo, Oke-Ijeun-Nawarudeen Road, Lafenwa-Rounda and other ongoing road network in Ogun State of their speedy completion immediately the rainy season subdue.

The Special Adviser/General Manager of Ogun State Public Works Agency, Engr. Babatunde Adesina, gave the assurance while featuring on a radio programme in Abeokuta, disclosing that all logistics and preliminary works of those roads had been perfected.

Engr. Adesina, who recalled that the present administration recently flagged-off the reconstruction of Lagos-Abeokuta Express Road, following the approval of the federal government, which gave the state government the privilege to fix the deplorable federal road, was at the insistence of Governor Abiodun, who was sensitive to the plight of people plying the road.

“Prince Dapo Abiodun is aware of the agonies commuters faced on the roads and since inception, he has been able to touch and complete some roads across the state including, Elite-Lantoro, Immigration-Prof. Wole Soyinka, Fajool-Alogi-Gbonogun, Ijebu-Epe, Awujale, Folagbde, Joju, Answarudeen-Oju-Ore, Osi-Ota-Raypower, Igan Okoto-Joga-Orile Phase One, Ewusi and Molusi College Roads, among others.

“We are imploring our people to be a little bit patience with the government, as other areas will soon be touched. We all know road construction does not begin with asphalt laying alone, there are planning stages, field work, sub-structure stage, cover, bridges and so on and as responsive and responsible government, we have been able to apply palliatives to some of the roads”, he said.

A resident from Olokuta community in Abeokuta, Alfa Aralamo Bashiru, appreciated government for the palliative applied on the Kemta-Olokuta road, appealing for speedy rehabilitation of the road, while Mrs. Ibikun from Ayetoro, called on government to fix Alamala-Ayetoro Road.
