Someone sent me an article today asking if I, as an "outsider," can unlock Borno.

Fair questions. No issues.

But I'd be lying if I said I wasn't touched by the number of people who rushed to my defence—old classmates, neighbours, colleagues, even strangers. The messages, the calls, the "we know you" from people I grew up with in Maiduguri. Honestly, that meant more than any article ever could.

So thank you. To everyone who spoke up, who reached out, who reminded me that home is home. I see you. I appreciate you.
