Yesterday, Lagos Free Zone had the distinct honour of welcoming Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Director-General of the World Trade Organization (WTO), for a visit that was as much about reflection as it was about the future.
More than a decade ago, Dr. Okonjo-Iweala was among those who helped shape the vision of creating a globally competitive industrial and trade ecosystem in Nigeria.
Yesterday, she returned to see how that vision has evolved into one of Africa’s most integrated industrial hubs.
The delegation was received by the Managing Director - Infrastructure & Fintech, Tolaram, Mr. Navin Nahata while the LFZ team was led by our MD/CEO, Mrs. Adesuwa Ladoja, alongside Ashish Khemka (Director - Finance & Operations), Binay Saraf (Director - Zone Development), Prem Krishna (Director - New Businesses, Energy & IT)
During the visit, Dr. Okonjo-Iweala toured Lagos Free Zone and the Lekki Deep Sea Port, witnessing firsthand the scale of infrastructure, industrial development, and trade connectivity that are reshaping Nigeria’s logistics landscape and strengthening West Africa’s position in global value chains.
Her visit is a powerful reminder that when bold policy, long-term investment, and strong public-private collaboration come together, transformative ideas become lasting economic assets.
