A common mistake or deliberate act committed in building around waterlogged plots is allocating only 2 or 3 pile caps to a grid line with 6 or more load points, which leads to overloading and differential settlement.

For example within the estate where this project was seen off by DKAJECH CONSULT at Lekki-Ajah, the Builders of most of the projects which of course had no Architect onsite to supervise proceedings, often charge for about 20 pile caps(estimated) but deliver only 10 or 14, causing these caps to sink further into the ground during settlement upon the action of point loads.

That's the construction devilry that has been ongoing there. Over 6 buildings sinking is a serious concern of incompetence because the ’engineers' are the same set of people.

Right here(pictured) we have about 24 columns, each converted into standalone pile caps., not 3 caps:1 grid line needing 9.. or 4caps to a grid which requires 8.
It wasn't cost-effective but we ensured quality was by no inch compromised.

Up until now, while other surrounding buildings are caving in, this structure is standing. No cracks. Not even a differential settlement.

Stages of a standard Swimming Pool Construction before the installation of Pumping and other major Mechanical equipments such as Heater, filter and skimmers...(See pictures)

‎1. Planning and Design
‎ (a.)Site Evaluation:
Begin with a thorough assessment of the location to ensure it meets project requirements, considering factors such as soil conditions, drainage & accessibility.

‎ (b)Design Selection: Determine the pool type (in-ground, above-ground, or semi-inground), size, shape, and features (e.g., slides, waterfalls).
‎Here we are working on an in-ground, waterfall pool design of 4-6ft depth(sloped).

‎2. Excavation and Grading
‎Excavation: The pool hole is carefully excavated according to the design specifications to ensure precision in the final depth.

‎Grading: This involves the Leveling and compaction of the pool base for a strong and stable pool floor
‎
‎3. Blinding of Pool Base
‎Install a mesh-supported blinding layer that enhances the resilience of the pool floor to support the subsequent shell installation—preferably a cast-in-situ concrete shell
‎
‎4. Provisional Retaining Wall
‎ A provisional brick retaining wall with intention to make it permanent, is Constructed to act as a moisture barrier and provide vertical support for the surrounding earth along the pool's vertical fabric, ensuring stability
‎
‎5. Structural Reinforcement
‎ Install a steel rebar to reinforce the pool’s shell structure, effectively securing it to the retaining wall for added strength and durability. (See pictures)

‎6. Laying of Water Bar
‎ The Blue object is known as the water bar. (See pictures)
It acts as a barrier to prevent water from seeping into cracks and joints in the pool's structure. This helps maintain the pool's integrity and prevents leaks.

‎7. Plumbing and Electrical Installation
‎ Install your plumbing fixtures for water circulation and filtration, along with the necessary electrical wiring for lights and equipment.
This must be done before the cast-in-situ concrete shell is installed.

‎8. Concrete Shell Construction
‎This involves the construction of the pool shell.
In this case, a reinforced concrete raft is installed around the reinforced concrete floor for maximum strength against ground movement.
