Rammering (compaction) before casting a German Floor is very important in construction. It ensures the ground is properly prepared before placing hardcore, sand filling, and concrete.
Importance of Rammering Before German Floor
Prevents Settlement
Rammering compacts the soil so it will not settle later.
If the soil is loose, the floor may sink or crack after some time.
Increases Soil Strength
Compaction increases the bearing capacity of the ground, allowing it to support the concrete slab and loads (people, furniture, equipment).
Prevents Floor Cracks
A well-compacted base reduces movement under the slab, preventing cracks in the German floor finish.
Reduces Water Pe*******on
Compact soil reduces voids, which limits water from moving under the slab and damaging the floor.
Ensures Even Surface
Rammering helps create a level and uniform base before adding hardcore and sand blinding.
Improves Durability
Proper compaction makes the entire floor system last longer and perform better.
Typical Floor Preparation Process

Rammering / compaction of natural soil
