ADC: Zulum dismisses defection rumour, affirms loyalty to APC

Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, has dismissed speculation in some sections of the online media that he would lead five other governors in defecting to the opposition coalition party, the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Zulum, in a statement by his spokesperson, Dauda Iliya, described the rumour as unfounded and baseless fabrication by unscrupulous elements seeking relevance, affirming his unalloyed loyalty to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The statement quoted the Governor as saying, "We have become aware of a fictitious and mischievous social media report circulating in certain quarters, alleging plans by me to decamp from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), alongside five other governors."

“This is entirely false and exists only in the imagination of its sponsors. They are detractors who have made no meaningful contribution to the progress of Borno State or Nigeria. It is a classic example of cheap, politically motivated speculation designed solely to distract us and create unnecessary political tension.”

"My loyalty to the APC remains firm and my dedication is solely to the welfare and progress of Borno State. I urge the good people of Borno and the general public to disregard this fabrication. We have no time for cheap politics; our hands are full with the noble task of rebuilding and developing our dear state."

“I call on media outlets and the public to verify information from credible official sources and to ignore the desperate fabrications of those seeking relevance through disinformation. We remain resolute in our commitment to serving Borno State under the banner of our great party, the APC.” the statement concluded.

Zulum Felicitates with Muslims on Successful Completion of Ramadan Fast
.. Reaffirms Commitment to Safety and Security

Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, has extended his heartfelt congratulations to Muslims in the state on the successful completion of the Ramadan fast.

Governor Zulum, who is currently in Makkah, Saudi Arabia, for the Lesser Hajj, described the month of Ramadan as a time of Allah’s boundless mercy that strengthens the spiritual well-being of the faithful. He urged Muslims to embrace the spirit of sacrifice, righteousness, and charity, particularly in helping those in need.

In a statement issued by his spokesperson, Dauda Iliya, Governor Zulum commended the Muslim faithful in Borno for their unwavering prayers, especially during the plausible days of the Holy Month.

“I would like to extend my best wishes to Muslims in the state on the successful conclusion of the month-long Ramadan fast. The essence of the Holy Month lies in spiritual rebirth which we have all committed ourselves to through acts of worship,” Governor Zulum stated.

The governor also expressed his hope that this joyous occasion will bring continued prosperity and development to Borno State, the North East region, and the entire country.

“Let us not relent in our prayers beyond Ramadan, as we seek lasting peace, prosperity and enhanced development for our state,” he added.
..Reaffirms Commitment to Safety and Security

Governor Babagana Zulum reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to prioritising the security, safety, and well-being of the people of Borno State. This resolve is reflected in the recent distribution of operational vehicles and motorcycles to security agencies aimed at bolstering surveillance and maintaining law and order throughout the state.

“I assure the good people of Borno that my administration will continue to invest in the security sector, rebuild communities, resettle internally displaced persons and refugees, and provide livelihoods for the betterment of all our citizens,” the Governor emphasised.

Governor Zulum also called on the people of Borno to remain vigilant and to cooperate with security forces in their collective efforts to rid the state of insurgency and other criminal activities.

Zulum Condoles Deputy Governor Over Death of Elder Brother

Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, has extended heartfelt condolences to his deputy, Hon. Umar Usman Kadafur, over the death of his elder brother, the Kadafur of Biu, Mai Aliyu Usman Kadafur, also known as Ya Mai.

The governor also commiserated with His Royal Highness, the Emir of Biu, Mai Mustapha Umar Mustapha II, the Council, and the entire people of Biu Emirate over the great loss.

In a statement by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media, Zulum described the death of the elder statesman as a huge loss not only to the Biu Emirate but to the entire state and region.

The governor, who is currently in Saudi Arabia for the lesser Hajj, described the late Kadafur as a bridge builder and peace advocate who immensely contributed to maintaining harmonious relationships between different segments of society.

“Indeed, to Allah we belong, and indeed, to Him we shall return. This is a great loss not only to the Biu Emirate but to the entire state. My heartfelt condolences to the Deputy Governor, Hon. Umar Usman Kadafur, the Emir of Biu, and the entire people of the emirate over this huge loss.”

He remarked that Ya Mai lived a simple and selfless life worthy of emulation, noting that he would personally miss his invaluable advice and guidance.

Zulum prayed for the repose of his soul and for the family to have the fortitude to bear the loss.

Mai Aliyu Usman Kadafur died on Friday at the age of 67 after a brief illness and has since been buried in Biu town in accordance with Islamic injunctions.

The funeral prayer was attended by prominent personalities, including the Senator representing Borno Central, Senator Kaka Shehu Lawan; Secretary to the Borno State Government, Hon. Bukar Tijjani; Head of Service, Dr. Mohammed Aminu Ghuluze; the Emir of Biu, Mai Mustapha Umar Mustapha II; members of the State Executive Council; local government chairmen; politicians; traditional title holders; and elders of the emirate and beyond.

The deceased is survived by a wife, children, brothers, and sisters.
