PROJECT UPDATE: NINE-STORY SECRETARIAT BUILDING COMPLEX

Progress continues steadily on the Bayelsa State Nine-Story Secretariat Building Complex.

Before the year ended, the ground floor and first floor were fully completed. Currently, work is ongoing on the second floor, now about 50% completed, with completion expected within the next two weeks. Columns rising to the third-floor soffit are already in progress, with column casting scheduled to begin next week.

By the first week of February, formwork for the third-floor beams and slab is expected to commence.

The project team is working day and night to meet targets, and by end of February, the structure should reach podium level. Even more encouraging blockwork has commenced from the ground floor, while finishes will progress alongside the structural carcass.

At this pace, the goal is to have the carcass completed up to the ninth floor before year-end.

This is what commitment, transparency, and good governance look like in action.

As we step into 2026 the year of "Assured Prosperity II" His Excellency’s visit served as a powerful validation of our commitment to excellence. The Governor expressed immense satisfaction with the pace of work and the high standards maintained on-site.

This iconic "Secretariat" is more than just a building; it is a promise kept to our civil servants. We are building a future-proof workspace that will drive the engine of government for decades to come.

We are hitting the ground running this New Year, ensuring that every brick laid brings us closer to the 24-month completion goal.

Work is advancing steadily on the 9-storey Secretariat building. The first floor decking is completed, and construction has moved confidently onto the second floor, delivering quality workmanship with no compromise.

This project reflects the commitment to purposeful development for the good people of Bayelsa State, and Megastar remains fully focused on delivering this landmark project on schedule.

From the ground floor to the first-floor casting, the project is rising steadily, with columns climbing toward the second floor and reinforcement works showcasing the scale of engineering behind this landmark building.

Project Update - Bayelsa State Secretariat

This is what precision in progress looks like.

The crew is putting the finishing touches on a freshly poured reinforced concrete slab one of the most crucial stages in construction. After the concrete is pumped and compacted, it’s carefully levelled with straight edges to achieve a smooth, even surface.

Every stroke here ensures proper drainage, balance, and a solid base for the structure that will rise above.

It may look simple, but this phase determines the strength, alignment, and lasting beauty of the building.

Project Update - Bayelsa State Secretariat

Every beautiful staircase starts with a strong skeleton.

This image captures a reinforced concrete staircase still in its formwork stage, the temporary wooden mould that gives shape and support to the concrete as it sets.

Right now, it’s all structure and steel but soon, the formwork will be stripped, edges cleaned, and finishes like tiles or screed applied.

This is what progress looks like: the unseen craftsmanship behind the polished perfection we’ll admire later.

Project Update - Bayelsa Secretariat

This photo captures one of the most important moments in structural construction, concrete pouring.

Once a pour starts, it must run continuously to prevent cold joints and ensure a strong, seamless slab. No pauses. No breaks. Just teamwork, coordination, and precision.

This is the point where engineering leaves the drawing board and becomes something solid, real, and lasting. Megastar in action.

Another major milestone at the Bayelsa Secretariat Project!
The substructure is fully completed, ahead of schedule, and the superstructure is rapidly taking shape.

Ground floor slab

Beyond the engineering, this project also empowers the community, over 100 Bayelsa youths have been trained in masonry, carpentry, scaffolding, and iron bending, with many now part of the active workforce.

This progress is powered by teamwork, commitment to quality, and strong support from all stakeholders.
