Bygg Architecture & Design Bygg Architecture and Design is a professional creative office, concerned with designing and organizing space around you.

We are architects and designers, we are Dutch, French, and Polish: Bygg architecture & design is the name of our collaboration. We started with the development of Plug-in-City Eindhoven, a self-built city in motion, where we are based now, in Strijp-S. We deal with complex spatial matters and we design in dialogue with the territory and we engage with its social structure. We question the temporal

ity of our interventions and their life cycles. We support the transformation of our design through time, either to adapt to the change of the local community or to serve another purpose elsewhere. We work toward circular solutions, second-hand materials as a resource, modularity, interchangeability and collaboration as a tool. We involve our extensive network of like-minded professionals: makers, designers and researchers. We are Tim Kouthoofd (architect), Ivo Hulskamp (spatial designer), Piotr Szczesniak (architect), Raphaël Coutin (social designer), and Hanna Lennart (architect). We can operate very flexibly and we can handle projects of any size and within any time frame. What we can offer for private clients:

What impact do you think the Binnen Dommel will have on Stadhuisplein during a heatwave like today?

In our master plan for Stadhuisplein, the Binnendommel is brought back as a visible and active part of the square.

Not only as a historical reference, but as a climate tool: water, trees, planting and softer ground conditions can help reduce heat, create shade, support biodiversity and make the square more comfortable to stay in.

During hot days, public space cannot only be a hard mineral surface. It has to offer places to cool down, meet, rest and gather.

By reconnecting Stadhuisplein to the Dommel, the square can become a living landscape in the centre of Eindhoven.

DUET - Cast series
A lighting series designed for the main foyer of Muziekgebouw Eindhoven.
We have a table light or hanged as single or double.
Cast in tinted acrylic resin with glass tube light E27
The curved geometry refers subtly to the lines of copper instruments. Mounted on a vertical tube each light can rotate adjusting the composition.

At .baltan we designed a series of custom furniture pieces for a workspace positioned somewhere between office, workshop and experimental lab.

The intervention includes cabinets, foldable tables, communal work tables and a playful sofa inspired by the BlablaLab logo.

We worked with simple pine plywood and linoleum: affordable, durable and familiar materials that create an approachable atmosphere rather than a polished corporate interior.

We especially like working with linoleum. It’s a material many people unconsciously remember from schools and public buildings, yet it remains incredibly versatile, tactile, durable and completely plastic free.

The sofa became the soft and colourful element within the otherwise sober space: three PVC tubes wrapped in foam and upholstery, suspended between CNC-cut plywood panels.

Last week at , together with .zes , we remade the edge of the small temporary urban forest in the centre of Eindhoven.

We first created this forest in 2020. Six years later, as the temporary phase has lasted longer than expected, we came back to refresh the space with a new edge.

We ordered oak trunks from Sotransbois, cut them on site, and assembled them into a new border that retains the soil and gives the forest a clearer, stronger edge.

This is how we like to work at Bygg, not only behind a screen or in the workshop, but going on site, taking the chainsaw, cutting the wood, adjusting the details, and making the space

You can visit to enjoy a tacos in a little piece of urban greenery.

Duet — Cast Series

Duet is a lighting collection designed for the main foyer of Muziekgebouw Eindhoven.

The collection exists in two series: 3D Printed and Cast.

The Cast Series introduces a more refined material expression, developed for the foyer’s architectural context, where light contributes to orientation, atmosphere, and spatial continuity.
Cast in acrylic resin, the material produces a dense, stone-like tone with depth and softness, giving the light a more permanent and composed presence within the space.

With its curved, tubular form, Duet refers to the bends found in copper instruments.
Mounted along a tube, each fixture can rotate, allowing single elements or composed clusters within the space.
